Just thought I'd throw an unscientific poll out there to see what the mixture is based on some threads about perks like discounts for MYW tickets and after 4 tickets for Epcot like FL residents get for dining at the park.

Feel free to add any comments you feel appropriate.

Thanks.

(Not intended to be a scientific sampling that's statistically valid but rather to prompt discussion)

Thanks,

My wife and I have premium annuals. The most cost effective option for us would be regular annuals & Pleasure Island annuals, but I like the convenience of a single ticket.
Once in a great while we hit a water park. :smokin:

I have always kept an AP (for discounts and such) and my DW has always held a MYW Premium No Expire 10 day. This may change now that we are DVC members since we go about twice a year anyway. That's sorta what this poll is all about; to see what others do.

At two trips a year combined with the discount for APs for DVC members (which we are now :) ), the AP route may make sense for both of us now though I confess that a lot of the reason I had one to begin with was for the discount on rack rates at the moderates. At 10 days visiting a year (average for us), APs probably make sense for both of us now (and our DD just turned 3).

What say you? :)

We live in central OH and it's a pretty long drive to Orlando. For our trips, we would only break even with APs, even with 2 - 3 visits per year. As a result, we opt for MYW non-exp tickets.

With 3-4 trips per year, and the fact that we do a lot of Signature Dining, the AP and the ability to purchase the DDE card are the perfect things for us.

We only go once a year and only for 1 week, so we buy 10 day non exp MYM hopper passes so we can get 2 trips per pass.

It depends on our upcoming plans. This year we have APs because we'll be at WDW for at least 19 days in the next 12 months. Sometimes we know (or at least we plan) to be there for far less time we'll buy some other combination of tickets.

DH and I have had APs for nearly 11 years now. When other family members go with us though, they usually get MYW hopper tickets for the length of stay.

We will be renewing our AP's for the third time in two weeks. My DH & I were going to just renew our AP's since the kids weren't going on our next trip, but plans have changed & they are coming with us. So we will renew all! Love the DVC discount on them!

nice question...we're in the decision making process and I appreciate the post. We're new DVC'ers and going in August...maybe Jan/Feb. In the past, for our annual trip we've done park hoppers and the DDP (which we love even though others report differently) and there is a lot to consider now.

Will look forward to the discussion...thanks!

We've got the AP this year for the 4 of us. It made sense for us with 4 trips planned for the year. We are going to get 26 days of use out of the passes so buying the AP was an easy decision to make. But I doubt that we will renew.

Same here. Plus we like plenty of down days (no park days). I bought a 10 day no exp in October. Used two days of it in October (long weekend trip) and one day of it in April (short meet up with friends). We'll proably go again in February, and I'll use two days then.

That will be three trips and only half of the ticket used. :)

We like the convenience of AP's. If we had a relaxing day and want to go to see Wishes, for example, we do it.

However, DH doesn't have as much vacation time as he used to and, we really don't know if he will renew his. I will renew mine. I tend to go more often and stay longer than he can.

For our family, we buy MYW tickets for them as presents.

We have done both.

This past year, we all had PAP's because we were spending 17 days at Disney.

For the coming year, I will be purchasing PAP's for myself and DD as we will be on property for 15 days between the summer and fall trips...and a possibility of a nursing convention in the beginning of May 2009 for another 6 days. For my DH, I will be purchasing the 10 day non expiring PH for this coming year as he is only slated to be there for 6 days on the fall trip this year.

My DM upgraded her MYW ticket last summer prior to leaving the resort to preserve the remaining 5 days as non-expiring...she will be using the remainder of that on the July Girl's Week Out Trip.

my kids (7, 10) love the amenities of DVC, so we usually only do 2 days in the parks and 1 day at WP and the rest are resort days--so a 10 day non-expire works for us--although it was a MUCH better deal a few years ago. If prices go up much more, we will switch to AP and do at least 2 long trips that year.

For us it really depends on when and where we are going. Our last 2 trips we bought 10 day non expire MYW hoppers and I still have 4 days on one and 6 days one the other. DD has 6 days on hers and my mother has 4 days on hers. This year I think we are going to buy AP. We just bought into DVC and didn't become official until after our last trip.
We plan well in advance (because I really can't wait for our next trip). We are going in Oct this year and Sept next year for 2 weeks so I think an AP would be better and just save those other passes. Then in 2010 we are hopefully going to DL California so we won't need WDW passes that year. In 2011 we will just have to wait and see how things are going :upsidedow with our jobs and airfare aand all!

we can't go long enough or often enough to make the AP a value for us. Wish we could though.

For the past several years we were doing AP while my married daughter who is not entitled to the discount would buy the 10 day non-expiring myw ticket. Since our vacation plans did not allow us to renew this year we will probably only buy one AP for the DE and 10 day non-expiring for the rest of us. Now that my DGD is getting older and can't be taken out of school for vacations we'll be unable to fit several trips a year into our schedule. So sad!! Marie

:smickey: I have AP with DDE because had a conference in April and used it then as well as our upcoming trip Oct.

::MinnieMo DW and princess: DD have 10 day MYW none expiration.
