AP or hotel res MBs - which ones to "activate"?

I have an upcoming re in November, and in MDE, I show a set of AP MagicBands for my family, awaiting customization. I also show a second set of MBs awaiting customization, as part of the room reservation.

Does it matter which set I activate? If I activate the AP MBs, will those automatically link up with my hotel res? By the same token, if I activate the room res MBs, will those automatically link up with my APs?

Thanks!

We went in April and then decided to upgrade our tickets to APs. We kept our bands from our April trip. We have upcoming hotel reservations for Aug and Sept and I was told that if I choose not to customize the bands nothing will get sent out. So what I gather is I need to make sure my previous bands are linked to our APs and then ignore the hotel bands. Does that make sense? I had to speak to a few people to get clarification. I just didn't want them to mail all these bands to our house for nothing. Hope this helps!

Well, I bring all my bands.....in different colors to go with what I am wearing ;)
They are all active.
We have APs too and did activate them.
I will get 2 more for our reservation for next trip.....then I will have 5 bands in different colors.

Nothing is stored on the actual MagicBands except for a unique id number. Everything (MagicBands, Park Admission, FP+ selection, room reservations, etc.) is linked to your MDE profile. The MagicBand is just a key to reading the data stored on your profile. All MagicBands assigned to you can be used interchangeably.

All my different magic bands(I almost have a complete set) all work with my AP, but I did run into a problem at Fort Wilderness getting back into the resort. The only MB that would open the gate was the one they sent me for the resort stay. I tried using my other bands, and none worked.

Oh, that is a good point. I plan on bringing all three sets of MBs in August. We drive to the parks so I guess I have to worry about getting back into OKW and find out which ones will open the gate.

When you get to your room, touch every MagicBand to the door lock. This should link them up to the reservation so that anyone of them should open the resort gate.
