I have an AP, but my DD does not. For the AP lines at the theme parks, am I the only one who can use that touch point or may I bring a companion? I want to follow the rules and wondered what the policy is -- particularly at RD.

Thank you!

We asked a CM at Epcot and they told us only 1 AP per party needed. You might get a different answer, but we didn't have any problem.

we are a family of 4 AP holders and my cousin who joined us for a day was allowed to go with us, we simply asked the cast member and he gave us the green light

We had six in our party and my husband and I were AP holders--not a problem whatsoever. One of the APs went first and the other last and one of us would flash the AP card if asked. The entire party can enter with the AP holder.

I actually forgot for one of my trips that my DD's boyfriend did not have a AP and he was the only one and we just went through the lines. We did it for about a week in June. I don't know how many lines we did because for quite a few parks the AP line was longer.

Thank you all for relating your experiences. I appreciate it very much!

I am an AP holder, DS10 is not. We both went through the AP entrances at each park during our Aug-Sept stay with no problem. I just went first an flashed my AP card.

Just piling on the earlier responses...on two separate trips this year, one with my son and the other with my wife, neither of whom are AP holders (I am), there was never a problem with them going in the AP tapstile with me.

We had the same situation last July. DH and I both have APs our adult daughter does not. We asked and it was never a problem for her to go through with us. :)

I was told you may bring 3 people with you. I think they would if you tried to bring 20 people with you

I have an AP this year for the first time in years, and always forget about the AP turnstiles! Are they always in a particular location (like the far right)? Hopefully I will remember for our December trip.

Seems to be the standard now. When it first started our non-AP friend was not allowed to go through. But look at all the lines, 50/50 the AP line was longer than others ................ for folks who can't scan. How an AP can't scan ...... :confused3

I have been using the AP line and have not been asked for my card. I guess the AP is linked to my magic bands. I think the theory is that APs know how to do the magic band/finger scan. The woman in front of me today was clueless. At least five or six people entered using the back scanner while she was at the front one.

They are in different places in different parks and at MK they seem to move around. I've found they aren't always the quickest lines.

Yes, they are linked to your MB. I don't think I've ever been through one where there wasn't at least one person who didn't have a clue how to use them. You can be a new AP holder and never been through the tapstyles before.

The finger scanner does not work for everyone. My mom has an AP as do I. 9 times out of 10 she can't get the green light to get in and she's had the same problem with the scanners for years going back way longer than there have been Magic Bands. Some peoples fingers don't scan well for some reason. She gets very frustrated because some of the CM's will make her try over & over again before they call for help. Today she had no trouble at all. Yesterday was a nightmare.

She could just have a legal photo ID in hand and use that instead of the scanner.

Some guests simply choose NOT to use the finger scan, but instead, show a photo ID.

Try & tell an 86 year old woman that. As far as she's concerned they should fix the system to accomodate her. Telling her to have her ID ready would be met with a death glare because she shouldn't have to do that according to her. She'd much rather waste an hour of my time while she goes to Guest Services to complain about their stupid finger scanners that never work for her, insist there must be some other way & refuse any of their sensible suggestions like what you just said.
