We took our first USO trip this past Feb, before the world went crazy, and are super eager to get back. I was considering 4 full days in the parks and noticed the AP isnt much more, and given the 3 month free promotion finding it hard to argue not just going for it. Does the AP start on purchase date or is it like Disney where you activate upon first day in parks? And if I wanted to use AP discount for hotel can I after purchase? Looking at mid October or mid November depending on travel restrictions in place this fall. TIA

Yes it will activate upon first use, you can book a AP hotel stay also, you’ll just need to show an active pass prior to checkout or they can charge you standard rates.

In order to get the AP hotel room discount, you need to book the ressie when AP rates are listed for the hotel.

Not all dates and hotels are eligible.

Looking at the present calendar, some dates in October are eligible for ap bookings.

I booked my stay with the ap rate.
I check out before the Columbus Day weekend.

Is the AP listing on the main site? I am so used to booking for Disney I don't even think to consider simple differences in how each does things.
The regular rate for both possible trips is well lower than Disney or what I would pay in a Hilton locally so doesn't even matter much.

You can get the AP rates by going to the AP section of the main website. There should be a category in there for hotel discounts.

I couldn't find it on the app, but click on Annual Passes on the website and click Annual Passes. Then click- "already a passholder?" Then click the Hotels tab and then "Explore Passholder Hotel Rates"
