AP holder in group and dining plan???

My step daughter is planning on buying an AP for our trip in May. She is a FL resident (and a huge Disney fan who goes more than some people go in their lifetime) and this is more economical for her. My question is.. She will be rooming with us and we were planning on doing the dining plan. I understand that you have to book this as a package so how would it work for her? The rest of our party will need to buy tickets (we are not FL residents) as part of the package to receive the dining plan, are we going to have to buy tickets for her also? Thanks for all the help!

edited to add... she is buying her AP this year for another trip she is going to Disney in December with her aunt and family. So what do we do with the ticket we have to purchase for her?

This is what we do when people staying in the same room need different ticket options. When we book package we just book it with everyone getting a 1 Day MYW Base Ticket. After checking in we go to guest services at a park or DTD (they cannot do AP at resorts). We have them upgrade the 1 Day ticket to whatever each person needs and we pay the difference.

BTW, last year when we went to DTD to do this they claimed they couldn't or it would mess up the dining plan. I'd done it many times before, so I insisted it could be done. The CM called another CM over and it was done no problem. It would be so much easier if they would just let you book what you want in the first place. I don't know why they make everyone in the same room have the same ticket.

So...if I got the base ticket...and upped it to an AP...what happens if I go again in a few months? Would I still have to buy a one day base ticket even though I have the AP? What would I do with it?
