AP getting a MB...will this work?

I make weekend trips to WDW. I have an AP. I stay off site.

To get my MB I need to stay onsite. Of course everything is very full & I don't care to pay tons of money for a night by myself. But I saw the campsites at Fort Wilderness have an opening. I am not a camper & won't stay. If I book it, will I be able to get my MB this way? If my reservation is for Sunday night, what time can I go "check in" & pick up my MB? Could I go early Sunday am on my way to the parks?

Yes, that would work. You should be able to arrive at 7:00 am and pickup your MB.

But it seriously seems like a lot of work/expense to get a MB that doesn't do anything more than your RFID AP does. In fact, it does less.

My understanding is with my current card AP I have to wait til I arrive at a park & then book FP+ for that day?

Once I get a MB I will be able to have it linked to MDE & book FP+ in advance for future visits even if I stay off site? Or is that wrong?

As of right now, that MagicBand allows FP+ booking 60 days out. The RFID AP only allows booking of FP for the day while inside the park. I'd say that is doing something more.

You are correct. You can check in as early as 6am. I'd do that and then go online and book your FPs for the day.

I went ahead & booked the campsite for Sunday night. Already picked my 3 FP+ for Sunday at AK. I'll go "check in" super early Sunday & get my MB on the way. Fingers crossed it all works!

I'm a local AP holder with a MB from a weekend stay earlier this year, and it was easy enoughg to link my AP to it, and keep using it for FP+. I was fiddling around with the app, and was surprised it still worked to make a FP choice. I have found that choices can be limited, and sometimes only late afternoon/evening options are my only choice. TSM was listed as standby only, and the day we went the return time for legacy FP (the last day available) was 8pm when we arrived at 9:30 am.

I would have thought as long as you had your AP RFID card linked to your MDE you would have the same privileges as the AP MB folks.

Fortunately I have a MB and have my AP linked so I am good but this is not the best resolution for the AP who don't have theirs linked. Very unfortunate.
