I am not sure if this question has been answered, but I am going to ask anyway. If you have an AP, do you get free dining as well? Im a little confused about this. Thanks for any help.

Sorry, but no. Even with an AP you would have to book a Free Dining Package which would include your room and at the very least a 2-day park ticket. You can still use you AP and save the park ticket to apply to your AP renewal.

Nope. For free dining, everyone must purchase at least a 2 day ticket.

If you're going to pay for dining, you can book a ticketless package for AP holders, but you can't get it free this way.

The way the previous responses are worded isn't 100% accurate. If you have an AP, yes you can get free dining as long as you satisfy the requirements for the special. The requirements are to pay full price for your room and to buy at least a 2 day MYW ticket per person in the room. No, you don't really want those tickets if you have an AP but you have to buy them regardless if you want free dining. If you do this then yes you can get free dining with an AP, subject to availability at your choice of resort obviously.

There's not much reason for the OP to be asking unless they thought they could get free dining without tickets.

Of course AP holders can get free dining. But they would have to purchase a package with tickets like anyone else would, as it's not available with a ticketless package. Same for DVC members. But DVC members usually ask if they can get free dining, meaning they want to know if they can get it when booking on points.

Those of us who have been Disney obsessed for a while absolutely would know this, but OP is pretty new to all things Disney so it may not have been obvious. I remember being new (I think that was more recent for me than it was for you) and I do remember asking things that seemed obvious to others but certainly weren't to me. It's amazing how many people believe that ticket lengths have to match resort nights in order to get free dining or even a paid dining plan for that matter. I doubt as a newbie that I would have considered the idea of buying a 2 day ticket along with an AP in order to get free dining. I've done it but as a newbie I doubt I would have considered it.

As long as the OP understands that to get it free you need tickets.
