AP/ FP+/Free Dining Package questions

I have 3 questions - sort of complicated. Here's the situation: Booked free dining bounceback for Aug 2015. 4 of us in the room - right now we all have the required 2 day tickets on the package. I also have an AP which will still be good during this trip. Trip is for 14 days. I am thinking that I may be able to "save" my 2 day ticket for a future trip and use my AP for this trip. Everyone on the package has to have the same number of days on the package until we are there, at which time each person without the AP can upgrade to 10 days.
1. If I do not upgrade everyone's tickets to 10 day tickets until we are there, can I still make 10 days worth of FP+ at 60 days for everyone? Or 14 days worth? Or will I only be able to make 2 days worth for those without AP?
2. Will I be able to make the FP+ on the AP so that it does not use up the 2 day ticket?
3. I know in the past you were able to "save" an unused ticket for future use. Is this still the case?
I had this same situation last year, but it was our first trip with FP+ and I just went ahead and upgraded us all to 10 day tickets from the start. I just seems a waste to not use the AP.
Hoping someone has the answers to this! Thanks!

1. You can make FPs for the number of days for which you have tickets for, even if your onsite stay is longer--sorry.

2. Not sure. APs by themselves can make no more than 7 days of FPs at a time normally, but more with an onsite stay.

3. Yes.

Thanks for the quick reply - that's what I was afraid of - only being able to make 2 days worth of FP+ unless we all upgrade ahead to 10 day. I guess that's what I'll do - upgrade all of us now. At least I'll have the AP for merchandise discounts.

I suggest you upgrade everyone to 10 day tickets so you can make your FP.... that is assuming you will be able to use the 10 day ticket in the future (I know you can save it to use at a future date but will you be upgrading to an AP again or will you have a future 10 day trip to use it on).

There's some way to prioritize the tickets so your AP will be used at the gate and not the 10 day ticket - hopefully Robo or Mesaboy will explain it.

Staying onsite with an AP we have made 10 days worth of FP + (that was with us staying 9 nights) with no problem. I've read that APs can only make up to 10 days worth of FP when staying onsite but I don't know if you can make 11 or 12 days worth since we haven't stayed that long with FP+ in place.

Even if you upgrade your ticket to a 10-day ticket, why wouldn't you still use your AP for admission and save the 10 day ticket for sometime in the future? It'd be a total waste of money to NOT use the AP.

As the PP stated, you can still use the AP even if you upgrade the un-needed 2 day. It will still be good later, and can also be used to renew your AP.

WOW - I never even thought of saving the 10 day ticket!! Thanks! That is exactly what I'll do - I will definitely be going again with out an AP. Now all I need is to find out how to designate the AP instead of the 10 day ticket for each park day at the gate.

We've saved tickets from free dining and upgraded them to APs over the years - very easy to do.

I *think* you can deactivate/ unlink the 10 day ticket from your MDE (so it won't be used at the gate) but I'm not sure - it's harder if you don't physically have the ticket since you don't want it to 'get lost' somehow.

I know you can prioritize it in MDE so that your AP will be used for this trip but I'm not sure if it is something you can do or if you have to call Disney IT. Ideally I'd get that sorted out before you make your FP+ arrangements. I'm sure Robo has posted how to do it in the past but I skimmed over the info.

Anyone know where I can find the info on how to make sure I am only using the AP at the gate? Is it on the tickets sticky?
Thanks

Last year we booked the free dining with the 10 day park hopper ticket. Since w already had APs I went to guest relations and told them to prioritize the tickets on MDE to use the AP. But I also had them give me a paper copy of the 10 day ticket and took it home to use at a later date. They both show up on MDE, but I was more comfortable having a real ticket in my hand than just drifting around in someone's data base. And I do think you can de activate the purchased ticket in MDE, but I was leery of doing that. Technology is not always "my friend" at my age :-)

Then because we had reserved a room and a 10 day ticket I made the FP+ reservations at 60 days out. I prioritized the tickets when we got to the first park.

So do you think it is OK to leave the 10 day package tickets linked to MDE, and also the AP; and just prioritize the AP at guest relations on the first day?
I also am not comfortable unlinking tickets on MDE ahead of time. Good idea to get the hard copy of the ticket for the future use. Thanks!

Yes - I have done it a few times. You can only do this at Guest Relations - not at the resort.

Before you enter a park, go to the Guest Relations window outside of the park and ask them to ensure that your AP is the first ticket listed and will be used for park entrance. They will have you scan your magic band and will adjust your tickets accordingly.

If you are worried, on a subsequent day in the parks swing by Guest Relations and have them check your tickets in MDE. They can confirm that you have not used your 10 day ticket. They can also make corrections if the initial change did not work (though I have not heard of this need).
