AP expires during trip

What if your AP expires during the end of a trip and you haven’t renewed before the trip? Has anyone bought UT tickets for part of a trip and converted after the old AP expires? I was thinking to purchase through UT in advance to make FP and then convert to AP.

You can apply the value of the UT ticket to the AP renewal while at WDW.

Except it's cheaper to just renew your AP, which you can do before or during your trip. I don't believe you'll be able to make 60-day-in-advance FP+s for the portion of your trip after your AP has expired, which is a good reason to renew it ahead of time.

Applying a ticket to a renewal, while possible, is not something that happens often. I would not expect any front-line CM’s to be trained to process the transaction. Expect a long wait and maybe even being turned away the first time or two.
