Hi There..

I know there are many places you can get merchandise discount with your AP. I'm just trying to budget some dining, snacks, Garden Grocer, etc., and was wondering...let's say I go someplace like Screendoor at BW and purchase some items and some of them are food items that they sell there..will my AP discount apply to ALL items including food or just non-food items? And aside from the restaurants listed, are there any other places where you purchase food (such as Goofys Candy Shop, World of Disney) that the AP discount applies?

Thanks

I know for a fact that Goofy's Candy Company gives the AP discount, I used it there this past May. :)

That's a plus...thanks for the info about Goofys Candy...I'm really curious if Screendoor at BW or gift shop at BC will do the same for items such as big bottles of water, milk, etc. We're thinking of getting some snack / breakfast type items at Garden Grocer but with $40 minimum I find we will have to order more than we need, but some of the items can be overpriced at Disney, but if we can use AP discount it might help.

I know stuff bought in gift shops should get AP discount. I was told by a CM one time that if I wanted to buy a bottled drink( coke) to go into a store to buy it as I'd get my AP discount.

Thanks Fire14 and you just made me realize something...a friend of mine recently began working at WDW (her dream). We plan to see her when we go down in Aug. I should just text her and see if she knows. It makes sense that all items bought in a store that accepts AP discount should be discounted...including soda, snacks, etc...but you never know.

The discount works for at least some of the things in the case at the Confectionary at MK. I got the 10 percent off my Mickey cake pop in June.

The merchandise locations give the 10% off w/ AP discount no matter what it is that you buy. So like your resort gift shop, World of Disney, Emporium, etc even if you have water, candy, etc. Goofy's must be merchandise b/c we always get it there.

I have never gotten the discount in a 'food' only location like Confectionary or Writers stop in DHS.

Keep in mind, it is only 10% (maybe 20% if you have the upgraded AP although that is going away or has already gone away). For expensive stuff that makes a big difference. But if you are talking milk and other little expenses, it doesnt really help much. For example, I would assume Disney charges about $5 (just a guess) for milk so you save 50 cents and even the $4.50 is more expensive than off site.

I know when we stayed at Beach Club and purchased food in the store- we were able to get the discount on packaged foods, but not any prepared ones (I.e. the sandwiches and soups and such)

Writer's Stop gives the AP discount (10% regardless of level,) as does Villains in Vogue/Sweet Shop and the candy store back in Frontierland. I'm sure there are some others I am forgetting. Any shop that is primarily merchandise, which also has a food/candy case, should offer an AP discount. Oh, the Werther's location, too. I am trying to think where else we've used it.

Honestly, between our APs, a Disney Visa, and a TIW card, I have gotten into the habit of just asking the cashier about discounts. Sometimes it's, "Do you offer any discounts," or sometimes, "You don't offer an AP discount, do you?" when I'm relatively sure they don't. About 10% of the time I'm expecting a "no" I get a "yes," so it's well worth the asking. No one ever seem upset that I ask, just as I never get upset when they say no. :)

Sure would be nice if they brought back the 20% for the higher-level APs... I would definitely spend more to make up for it!

Here's the official rules: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/p...benefits-and-discounts/merchandise-discounts/

In the resort gift shops, I've been given the AP discount on any Disney merchandise (including things like the Chip n' Dale snack line offerings, Mickey bars, etc.), but no discount on any sundries (groceries, suntan lotion, etc.), which is exactly what the rules state should be the case. When they ring up the order, the system applies the discount only to the allowable items.
