AP Event Worth Extra Travel?

I received a flyer in the mail today, inviting us to the AP event in February. We live in Washington state, but amazingly, we will actually be somewhat in the area around the date of the event on a previously planned trip. To attend the event, it would require an additional 4 hrs, both ways drive, on back to back days. It would be me, and my 4yo daughter, and we would just stay the night of the event. For those who have attended these events before, is it worth the hassle? We will have been at Disneyland for a couple days the week prior, so we really would only be going for the extra event, and not really anything else in the park during the day. Unfortunately we can not re-work our trip the previous week to change the dates we had already planned to be at Disney, to be there over the special event days. Is it worth 8hrs of driving, considering we would then be starting the drive home to Washington state the next day?

We went to one last year that was held in DCA. Most rides were walk on(RSR was still a 30-45 minute wait) the characters were dressed up really cute but the waits to see them were very long.
The one we went to started at 8, I think, and my daughter was toast by 9ish. She was 4 at the time.
For us, it would not have been worth the extra trip but we live very close and happened to be there that day anyways.
There was one recently around Christmas time at Disneyland that I was planning on going with only my adult friends but unfortunately it "sold" out before we got out tickets.
What are the details for the event? Time? Which park?

The Christmas event involved a "private" viewing of Fantasmic (first run of the fastpass system), the Christmas parade, and Fireworks. The main draw were the characters out; they had a bunch of ones not usually in the parks. It's a fun event if you're in the area, but unless seeing rare characters is a priority, I don't think it's worth the extra time and effort. (And at least for the Christmas party, lines were not that short...)

So weird, I've had a Premium AP for over a year now and I've never received an invite to a single one of these events! Not through mail or email. How often are they? And why wouldn't i be getting any info on them? The only thing i got from them was a "time to renew" post card...... :confused3

We received invites to the Feb event(s) a few days ago. We aren't going back (from Texas) for that. Our expiration is the end of April.

My name must be on the same list as yours, ButterflyKisses. I never get anything either.:confused3

I've only been a passholder since November and haven't gotten anything but hopefully there will be some more things planned for this year.

It says here that the February event is only for passes that expire between March 8 and May 23, and that they're having more later this year for other expiration dates. http://www.mouseinfo.com/forums/con...-returns-2015-2-consecutive-party-nights.html

I've read that DL often targets AP holders who have APs that are set to expire in the near future. I don't know how universally true this is, but a fair number of folks who report getting invitations tended to have APs that expired within the next few months. So, hopefully, they'll have other events throughout the year so that more AP holders have a chance to experience the events.

I haven't been to one of these invitation only AP events, so I've only gone to the ones that were available to any AP holder in the park (back during the year of Limited Time Magic, they had a few after hours events for AP holders). So, I'm hoping for a chance this year as well!

Our APs expire May 10 and we didn't get any invites -- could be b/c we are in Canada but we never get any disney mail/invites
:worried:
