AP Discounts

Hello!

We are former AP holders and I have not been successful in talking my husband into "biting the bullet" and getting them again in 2005 since we are taking a cruise in January.

So my question is, has anyone ever heard of anywhere that the AP's are discounted at all? I once bought them when they had the old "Disney Club" and got a discount, but now that's gone. I know that you can also get a discount if you renew them before they expire, but that, alas, is not an option for me anymore! :(

I do have a Disney Visa, do you get a discount throught that? What about AAA? Or your employer? See where I am going with this- if anyone knows of ANYWHERE you can get discounted Annual Passes, please let me know.

TIA!

Only ones I know of are on renewals and a new one next year for DVC members, $100 discount. Have not really looked at the particulars on that as I am not DVC, but have seen it mentioned a number of times of late.

Thanks for the help!

PS- I can't talk DH into DVC either! But I am still trying!

PPS- If anyone sees of any other places for discounted AP's please let us all know. :D

You could always put it on your Disney Visa and rack up some disney $$ to put towards your next trip. Or use some other card with rewards.

Or what I did was ask for Disney dollars for my birthday/christmas and used them to put towards my PAP. -Stephanie

Good idea, Stephanie!

I've spent so much on my Disney Visa that I am going with a $400 onboard credit on the Magic in January!

(I cringe when I think of the fact that I spent $40,000 on that credit card to get that $400!)

Ouch! (Scary isn't it?)

Could anyone tell me what the renewal discount is? I'm purchasing APs for the first time for our Dec. trip.
Thanks!

Right now I believe it's around 11% - AP's are $403 right now, and renewals are $361.

They changed the renewal policy several years ago, because when you renewed you used to get a voucher in the mail, and your new AP didn't start until you turned in the voucher on your next trip. Now when you renew it automatically becomes active, so the renewal rate is no longer the value it used to be.

It really depends on your future schedule if it's worth renewing or not. For instance, I bought an AP in late October last year, I'm going several times thorughout the spring, and then I have a big family trip the begining of October '05. (My AP will certainly get a lot of use between now and then. :) )

However, since I won't be going until Christmas '05 after that, at the absolute earliest (and maybe not even then as I may go to Disneyland instead), I doubt I'll renew right away. It's worth the $42 for me to get an extra 2-3 months longer out of the pass.

Also, if you are a once-a-year family that (very smartly) does the "buy an AP this year, go a week earlier next year" it's obviously not a value to renew either, as you would defeat the whole purpose after the second year.
