A friend told me that I can book a room with my AP discount for another family without staying at the resort myself, as long as I am there with them at check-in. Any one know if this is really true. I don't need to use the AP discount for myself (staying on DVC points) but the other family would save 35-40% off their room if this is allowed. I don't want to mention it to them until I can confirm this. TIA

When I called to book our trip this past February, I asked the CM about booking a room for my parents under my AP discount. She said that I could book one room under my dh's name and one room under my name. We did that up until the offer of buy 4/get 3 came open and that was cheaper for my parents anyway.

You could do the same for your friends. The CM told me "We don't do room checks to see who is staying in which room". She was very helpful to me about it.

No, you cannot use your AP discount to book a room for someone else. The primary guest staying in the room has to be an AP holder. It's one thing to book two rooms for you and your family all staying together like the other poster mentioned. But to book a room for someone else, no! The current general public discount is almost exactly the same as the AP discount - and has more room availability too - so why not use that instead of trying to pull a fast one.

Have to agree with PP, not gonna work.

You'd technically have to check yourself in to the resort where you booked the discounted room - you wouldn't be able to check yourself in to the resort where you are actually staying. And so, as applicable, you'd also have to pay extra-adult charges for that second resort. Not to mention occupancy - are they bringing kids?

I'd go with the GP discount for your friends and call it a day.

I agree it can't be done, but the AP discount through Aug 14 is more off than the GP (before the GP changed it was similar but not now)

I was not "trying to pull a fast one". That's why I asked. This friend of mine insists that this was true no matter how much I tried to tell her it wasn't possible. This is the same person that insisted that I didn't need a ticket for my 3 yr old grandchild because "Disney changed the age". I think we all know someone like this. lol
As a former CM, I would never take advantage of Disney. I still have pixie dust in my blood!

Thanks
