AP Discount w/o AP???

I recently booked a ressie for an AP discount with the full intention of adding the AP at the time of booking because I currently don't have an AP. However the CM just booked me and never asked for anything to do with me proving to her that I had one. My question is do they ask for it at check in? I plan on purchasing an AP anyway because I want to purchase the dining discount card along with it, I was just curious as to how many people take away these discounts from the people they are intended for, or do they ask for it at check in to at least make sure everyone is "qualified" for the discount. Hey Sean
You can make AP reservations without having an AP in hand. It's only when you check in that you need it. Some people report never being asked to show their AP, but if you checkin and are asked and DON'T have one, then Disney will most likely charge you rack-rate for the room.

Vouchers are also acceptable at checkin, but you might be asked to return later with the activated AP.

Some CMs ask, while others do not. If you don't have one, and they ask for proof, they will indeed change your reservation to rack rate. We watched this in person while at the BC last summer. You could've heard the man's chin in the floor when the CM said, "please make sure you bring your AP by the front desk, but until then, I have changed your rate to rack rate...." I'm sure he bought the AP after that. You can not book online unless you're an AP holder, and that is generally how I do it.

I've never been asked for my AP. In fact, a few times I've actually been asked if I want to purchase Tickets!

I've heard that if you're an AP holder or not shows up on the computer of the CM checking you in, which is why they don't always ask for them.

I've been asked for mine about half of the time.

It's called the Disney Dining Experience, and it's GREAT. (That would just be MHO, of course! ) We paid $60 for it and saved so much more just on our first trip, and we're going back again before the year is over...It gets you 20% off at most table service places, and I think a few food courts (like at POP, where there's no sit-down option available). But it covers pricey things like CRT and the ones considered "Signature" by the DDP, so you get savings off what you actually order instead of the blanket cost for the DDP. You do need to order it in advance, it took a few weeks to get processed and get to us. Hope you like it!
