AP Discount question

Seeing some of the conversations about changing multiday tickets to AP I started thinking maybe this is a good idea. Doing our first trip this December for 4 park days and it may be our only so the benefit of being able to go again isn't huge, what is huge for me is the discounts. We're staying on my DVC points and driving to US since our trip was supposed to be WDW originally. This means we'll have parking fees ($26 a day I think) for 3 days that's already over half of the cost to upgrade one ticket to preferred. Am I correct in what I was reading that they don't reimburse you for your first parking fee when upgrade to an AP? We're considering purchasing a dining plan for our 4 days, do APs get discounts on that or is it better to just use the AP discount at the register? What about the freestyle refillable cup are there discounts on that?

Merchandise I don't know what we'll get I'm a die hard disney girl so I don't see myself wanting much except a wand. Does the merch discount apply to the wands? DH is a die hard Marvel fan so I'm guessing he will find stuff he wants but I don't know how much different stuff they have versus DLR that we already have discounts on.

The preferred ap allows free garage parking on your second time there and all following days
First visit preferred ap holders pay the parking fee.

Check out the website for what other perks are allowed.
Specific eateries have the ap discount, one I do remember is Hard Rock Cafe for a 15%
Others on the list is for a 10% discount on food.
Specific stores allow a discount also.

City Walk is included for the ap discounts.

Thanks for the confirmation on the parking. I've looked over the park website and at the discounts for APs I just didn't know if there were specific merchandise items that did not have discounts. I remember running into that at Seaworld some years ago.

As for the food question I couldn't find anywhere that said if the dining plan did or did not allow discounts that was why I came here. I guess I should take that as a they don't get discounts since it's not stated anywhere.
