Right now I can book a room at HRH for $154 AP rate. I just checked the forecast for when we are going (Sep. 23rd-27th) and it is raining everyday that we are there. I was going to get 2 rooms on the last night to do FOTL. My question is if I wait to book the room when I am there what are the chances that I will get the same rate? I don't want to spend $200 more for onsite if we won't be able to use it for what I wanted. TIA

Anyone have experience getting a room last minute at the same rate as you would have gotten weeks before?

They only allot a certain number of rooms for each rate. If they sell out all those rooms set aside for AP rate, you'll end up paying rack rate.

Best to book it and cancel within penalty-free time allotment.

The chances are pretty slim on the AP rate, I waited an extra week this last time becuase I had to get a new CC number since my old one was misused and the rate jumped up higher than the stay more rate.

Now the FL Res rate I have had luck getting it the day before family members arrived but not the AP rate.

You have 3 days prior to arrival to cancel if I am remembering right and Florida weather is very strange, it said it was going to rain the whole week we were there and that meant it rained at night and then maybe an hour or two during the day only once or twice during the week.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go ahead and book but I will find out for sure on the cancellation policy because I think it said the 21st which is 5 days before.:confused3

Ok I just checked it and it is 5 days before that you have to cancel by. I guess I will just take my chances and try it when we are there. Thanks for the help. I will make a backup res somewhere else that has same day cancellation policy.

I don't understand why the rain would factor so much in your decision and why you don't want to stay at Universal due to the rain. It rains a lot in Florida but most times it is scattered storms that may or may not hit the parks that pass through quickly and unless they close the rides due to lightening most people put on rain gear or ponchos and push on through. If you will be in Orlando what will you do in the rain instead? Wouldn't the FOTL passes be an advantage should it rain

Like I said just trying to understand to know if there is something about Universal Orlando in the rain that I should know. Thanks.

True enough about the ponchos and the short rain showers. I know my husband and if it was raining he would just give up on the parks and want to leave. Not me, I am a trooper at a theme park.;) I just want to leave it open. The price is $78 for 2 rooms at Hampton Inn with free breakfast or $301 for 2 rooms at RPR with FOTL. Still not sure how I want to handle that. This is supposed to be a sorta budget trip.

Thanks! Understand on the budget. Just a thought that if you are in an on-site hotel and it rains its a lot quicker to get back to your room and back out to the parks when the rain stops. Don't know what there is to do at the Hampton Inn but personnally if I am going to be out of the rain in my room I would rather be in a better hotel and bigger room.

One thing I did love about RPR this last time was the one day it did rain in the afternoon and we headed back to the hotel the young lady that worked at the pool was standing outside the pool gates, since it was closed due to the weather, handing out warm towels to all the kids and adults who wanted one. That was a really nice touch and one of the reasons I love the Lowes resorts.

I looked at your forcast & to tell you the truth, I don't think it will be an issue. Looks like possible shower or t-storm in the afternoon while you are there. This is normal for Orlando. Some days you may get one & some you may not. Also, when you do get one, it usually won't last more than 30 minutes or so. You can duck into a show or store for 1/2 hour and then when you come out, there may just be no lines left. Also, you may even be done at the park by the time it comes in and could be kicking back at the hotel. I know it's expensive, but don't base your decision on the rain. Base it on what you can afford and how much the unlimited FOTL is worth for your family. :thumbsup2
