I was wondering if you are able to get a discount on room rates if you are an AP holder?
It depends. Yes, there are rates released for annual pass holders, but:
1.) They are NEVER guaranteed (meaning there may or may not be any rates for a given time period)
2.) There's a limited number, and you may not be able to get all the nights you need
If yes, does it depend on the resort, is it a set percentage, time of year?
When rates are released, they can be as low as 30% off of rack rates, and as high as 50% off of rack rate. It fluctuates, and varies with the season, and the resort you want.
The ONLY reason you should purchase an Annual Pass is if it's going to save you money on ADMISSION, not a room.
Having said all of that, however!
You don't need an annual pass to book a room, you only need it when you check in. If annual pass rates are released, you can easily call, and try to get a discount (remember, they release limited rooms). If you get one, you can easily buy one in a couple of places.
1.) If you're flying, they'll sell you an activated annual pass at the Earport
Disney Store at the Orlando Airport.
2.) If you're driving in, they'll sell you an activated annual pass at the Ocala Disney Information Center.
3.) Guest Services at Downtown Disney and any theme park ticket window will sell you an activated annual pass.
Hope that was what you were looking for.
