I apologize if this has been asked before but I can't seem to find my answer...

what is the discount on a hotel room if you have an AP? I'm wondering if it is woth it for us to upgrade one of our tickets to an AP for all the discounts it gives (hotel, resturants, etc). I tried to put "AP" in the code box on the HRH website but it didn't work.

also, if you use the AP rate do they still honor the Lowes upgrade deal?

TIA!

"APH" is the code you'll enter when searching...

"It depends" is the answer to your other questions...the discount can vary depending on the season and proximity to major events. 10-20% is fairly common, but there are often other rates (Super Saver, for example) that work out to be better deals than the AP. Just make sure you look at all of your options. Upgrades are typically not available when booking an AP rate, but I've gotten the welcome gift during previous stays.

I'd suggest some basic analysis to determine if you should go with AP or regular tickets. List all of the potential costs/savings associated with each scenario to help you decide. We did two visits last year, and it made sense to get the AP...this year we are only doing one visit, so I booked without the AP rate (but got an upgrade via Lowe's Platinum), but I'm renewing the AP so I can leverage discounts across Universal during out stay.

Hope this helps...

Thank you. I think that will help me figure it out. I'll have to look into the discounts throughout Universal. Is there a link that will tell me the discounts for AP or is it generally about 10% everywhere?

Thanks again.

I have the link to check the APH rate in both my Upgrades Primer and my "What's the Super Saver Rate" threads.

Just type in "APH" where it asks for a promo code.

Leave it blank to see if the Super Saver Rate comes up.

we have an AP rate for a room at HRH for tomorrow night, standard, garden view for $159. I think that was a good rate.

It also depends on how far in advance you're booking. I'm looking for end of Sept. and still getting high rates even though it's very low season. :confused3
I will keep checking.
We went last Sept, Nov and Jan to HRH, PBH, and HRH and all 3 times APH gave us about $100 off the lowest reg. rate. ($144, $169, $144) (obstructed view @ HRH)
Now when I search I get $207 super saver rate and $220 aph.

It would seem that the prices are just like gas prices...they always seem to go UP! I am still looking for June 23-27. I know, I know...book it and if the prices come down, I got a great deal. It's like the way i buy gas, if I wait maybe the prices will come down..:rotfl2: Right now we are $3.65 per gallon in Indiana. OUCH!
