We bought AP's (haven't used them yet so only have the voucher). We booked at Poly/CRS. I was wondering if we will still recieve PIN's and other discount offers since we already booked, or would we have been better off waiting to book until later (going in July 2010).

I wondered that too about just booking and the chances of getting a pin (I'm not an AP holder). But a few weeks after I booked my Feb trip, Disney sent me a pin, but it was for April - June. So I still got a pin, but it wasn't for the time I was booked for (and right now others are getting pins for Feb...good for them, sad for me :sad2:)

It depends on how they do the discounts. Unless you register the voucher on the AP site (If they still even do that) they have no way of knowing that you have an AP. As such, you won't get any AP PIN's. However, typical AP discounts up until the recent NPJ fiasco have been general AP discounts, not PIN needed. That one was different and required a PIN. So if they continue to send out AP discounts only in that matter, then you may not get one. BUT, if that was a special deal, and they still continue to do regular AP discounts, then you should be able to use those as soon as word of them hits the internet.

Regarding booking now, or holding out, its a game of chance. If you had your heart set on a certain room type, then you should probably book in advance. But if you are flexible, then you would probably be ok waiting. The room discounts are released based on occupancy. So say there are 135 AKL standard view rooms. And say WDW wants 120 of them booked for a certain month. If they only have 100 rooms booked, then they decide to release some discounts for that room type. BUT, if you already booked that room type, you could be the room that pushed then to that mythical "quota" of 120, and they decide not to offer a room discount for that room class. (These numbers and quotas are completely made up off the top of my head. No one knows how exactly they decide.) So by booking in advance, they may not offer discounts for that room type. But, by waiting they may release discounts, or they may book up. Does that make sense?

If you are a AAA member, you may do good to ask for the AAA discount on those rooms so at least you aren't paying rack rate. You can always change to a AP or other discount code that comes out later if one appears that is better.
