Sorry to get anyone excited, but I think this is a valid question.

This is kind of an AP poll thread. We might as well do something useful regarding AP conversations.

Since the Dinsney Club is just about defunct and the Disney credit card is no great deal.

I being a firm believer that the Ap is a good bargain with guarnteed hotel discounts.

Who would buy, or continue to but APs if there was a guaranteed discount of at least 25% for onsite properties? A simple post yes would suffice providing a head count at a glance how many APs are out there.

Because if it were true that Disney isn't releasing AP discounts because all the AP's already have reservations, The properties are full and Disney has no reason to give discounts to people who already have reservations.

It would be better if Disney gave a decent discount up front and people stuck with it then playing rearrange the reservations every other day. I for one am guilty of this also.

We were planning on buying APs for the first time for our December trip and then going again next November. I really wanted to do a split stay between CR Tower and either WL or AKL savannah. Looks like this won't happen. As it stands now, we have ressies for Dolphin (govt discount) and next year we may just vacation in either Dallas or San Antonio.
When we were stupid enough to think you could count on AP rates, we had thought we would go to WDW every 11 months or so and stay at a deluxe. Looks like instead, we may just go every couple of years and stay at the Dolphin.

I think the current situation just points out that we will just have to review our situation year-by-year rather then plan on automatically buying APs. Last year we took three extra trips to WDW almost entirely because we were able to take advantage of AP hotel discounts. This year we'll buy APs because we already have reservations for December (AAA rate) and plan on honeymooning at WDW in June.

A guaranteed 25% room discount would not entice me to automatically renew our APs. I already get 20% at the moderates via AAA and we might get better value for our vacation dollars at other venues. (Where would you rather be in August? Orlando, Florida or Bar Harbor, Maine? ;) )

We're DVC members and generally spend more than 8 days at WDW per year.....so the AP's just are the most affordable option for us to get into the parks usually. Now, if we have a year where we decide to do some things off site, park hoppers or UPH's may be the way to go for us (especially if we don't stay at WDW while we're exploring outside WDW). As DVC members we do get a 10% discount on the UPH's. We've discovered that its fun to spend a day or two at WDW without going to the parks too.

Though we don't entirely rely on AP room discounts...it has certainly been an incentive to go to WDW even more often (after our DVC points have been used up) because we have the tix and can get a room at a reasonable rate. But then again, we can stay offsite, still get free parking because we're AP holders, and still enjoy the parks....so without the discounts the AP's won't really keep us staying at a WDW resort every night.

I do think an across the boards AP discount for all times of year would be welcome....and with a lack of better discounts we'd probably use it. But it does feel like a slap in the face that Disney wants to save their best deals for those who are once in a lifetime visitors rather than loyal guests. But regardless of what is offered, we consider what we want to do first....then figure out what the best way of doing that is. Even with the great discounts that have been offered in the past with AP's, renewal was not an automatic thing for us....but frankly, the better the benefits of having an AP the more likely we'll be to renew.

I think the across the board discounts would be good for the APs. I also think there are only a limited number of rooms that they give discounts on and I feel that with the FTP it took away a lot of those rooms. With the disney credit card I have a feeling that more discounts will come from it, but I think we have to wait until the Disney Club is gone.
