I was planning to purchase the 14 day 3 park unlimited ticket from Undercover Tourist for my daughter and an AP for myself but a comment on another thread has brought a question to my mind:

If I purchase a Preferred pass for myself, could I wait and purchase a Power pass for her once we get there and get the 15% discount on multi-day tickets?

I believe the ap discount is only on multi day or single day passes, not annual passes

You are correct. There is a difference between a multi-day ticket and an annual pass.

In addition, the 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass includes:
Free self-parking* after first visit
10% savings on 1-day and 15% savings on multi-day theme park tickets purchased at the front gate (up to 6 people)
Free admission to select special events such as Mardi Gras, Summer Concert Series & Holidays
Special discounts on separately ticketed events, such as Halloween Horror Nights and Rock the Universe
10% off at Universal Orlando® owned and operated merchandise stores and carts (restrictions apply on select merchandise)
10% off at select restaurants (excluding food & beverage carts and alcoholic beverages)

I also wanted to add I believe the ap discount is off the gate price, which is usually more than the advance online price or uc price

Yes, that is definitely the case for tickets. The gate price is $20 higher than the online price.

the discount was offered to us @ the park gates in June for my power pass purchase (using DH's PAP renewal that we processed 1st)...guess we were lucky.:confused3

I think your post on the HHN thread about this is made me wonder if it was possible. If I do decided to purchase a Power Pass at the gate (and maybe get a discount), does anyone know if it is the same price as on-line?

It should be the same price...APs are usually discounted already.

It was in June. I have no idea if you'll also receive the discount but good luck.
