We let our AP lapse last September to take a year off (not an easy feat). I'm wondering about FPP for our planned September trip. I know with normal AP there is the 30 day window but I've only used it with an existing/active AP.

I am curious to know if anyone has purchased an AP and linked to an account prior to first park entry. I believe that we are FPP eligible once we have purchased and linked to MDE but just hoping to confirm real world experience. We are staying off property so that is not an option for this trip.

Sure thing. we paid for ours in September 2014 and had FP booked well before our October trip. I don't even remember having to link it since we bought them online while signed in to our account. Maybe we did something to tie them but it was very easy.

The ONLY requirement for anyone to be able to book FP+ as early as 30 days in advance,
is to have a valid ticket or AP (active AP, or AP voucher) linked to an MDE account.

That's it.

If you have an AP or AP voucher, or a stand-alone ticket (not purchased as part of an upcoming WDW Resort package,)
to check and see if your ticket is properly connected to your MDE account,
log in and try to make FP+ reservations on a date within the next 30 days.

If you can make FP+ reservations, you're all set.

(Be sure to cancel any unwanted "test" FP+ reservations.)
