I will have an AP by the time we go in the Fall. My girls do not. Right now, my family is booked under a room-only at Wilderness Lodge. Can I add the dining plan to our reservation once I have my AP?

Yes. They will book you a ticketless AP package with room/dining which will require a $200 deposit. They will cancel your RO reservation and refund the one night room stay deposit.

Your new reservation will follow normal package guidelines - Paid in full 45 days out, etc.

The rest of my family won't have APs yet, just me. I wasn't sure if it would still be possible to do this or not.

Only 1 person in the room has to be an AP holder (I think it has to be an adult). Be aware that if the others in the room do not have park tickets attached to their names (e.g., if you were going to buy their tickets when you arrived at Disney) then you can't make FP+ choices in advance - the FP+ choices are linked to the # of days of ticket admission linked to each person (among other criteria/limits - see other threads).

Also, I know I was interested to learn that you can't add dining (even if you have an AP) to a room you booked on Orbitz (for example). Has to be through Disney (and maybe some official travel agents? not sure about that). AP discounted rooms are ok - you can add dining to those room only discounted reservations.

Okay thanks. Looks like we will be able to do it then. The rest of my family has tickets, just not APs. We booked a bounce back through Disney so we're all set there too.

An AP holder can book up to 3 rooms on the AP ticketless room/dining package.

Remember you aren't adding the dining to a room only reservation. Your room only reservation will be cancelled and rebooked as a ticketless package with dining. You'll need to pay a new deposit, and be under package rules (pay in full 45 days out, etc)
