AP and cash stay questions

We're staying at PORS (It's still Dixie Landings to the Mrs!) on a cash reservation the Saturday before our December trip to OKW.

From what I understand once the AP discount rates come out you can call back and change your reservation to reflect the new rate.

What if you haven't purchased the pass or activated the voucher?

I have read you can book or change reservations without actually having it at the time of reservation as long as you have it when you check in.

Is this correct?

Honestly they have never asked me for my AP number when using it for
booking.....at check in or on the phone.
Of course that could change at any moment.

I forgot to add that we WILL be purchasing the AP, but we won't have it activated until we get on property.

I just re-read my post and it sounded like I was trying to get the AP discount without buying the pass.

We just recently booked a cash ressie using an AP rate even though our APs have expired, we will be buying new ones for this upcoming trip. While we've never been asked to show our APs at check-in there is the chance. I asked the CRO CM about having to provide an activated AP at check-in and she told me to go to Guest Relations at DTD to activate the pass prior to check-in. And yes, if you book a room at rack rate and then AP rates come out if there are rooms available at the AP rate you can have your ressie updated to reflect the AP rate.

I seriously think I am the only one that gets asked to see their AP???? Just this last trip to the Polynesian I got asked.

I almost start to chuckle when they ask because I know that no one else gets asked. I wonder why that is...

I've been asked to show my AP several times, usually at POFQ.
