I know this has probably been covered before extensively, but it's my first time buying an annual pass, and I just want to confirm that my information is correct.

I'm getting AP rates at my hotel and was told that I would need an AP to check in, and that I should buy them at the airport.

Does this mean that the AP is activated at the airport, or are they activated when I swipe it through at the park gates?

Thanks so much for any information on this, anything would be appreciated!

The AP you purchase at Disney's Earport at Orlando International Airport is a fully activated pass. Your one year starts the day you buy it. This is exactly the same thing that will happens no matter where you buy your AP in the WDW area. All AP's sold down there are already active at purchase.

When I purchased an AP (over the phone before leaving Wisconsin) last year I was told the same thing as you - that the pass needed to be activated before checking in.

I called the hotel (BW) to verify this and they told me it was not necessary to validate the pass - the voucher would suffice. Interestingly, when I checked in they never even asked to see the voucher. I activated the pass the next morning when we went to MK.

I don't know if my experience was typical, but you may want to check with your hotel to save alot of worry or hassle.

Call the hotel and ask???

Why didn't I think of that?

It's amazing how the most obvious solution will escape me.

I will indeed call them and ask, thank you all for your time and information!

I've been wondering the same thing but we'll be coming through the airport at 5:30am! Disney's Earport wouldn't be open then, would it?

You can buy you APs at any Disney Store. This is what we did. I got AP rates for All-Star Music and only had a voucher at the time. I figured that if they wanted it validated we could just go to Customer Relations at Downtown Disney to validate them, then go back to the hotel. But.... when we checked in they didn't ask for our APs, so all was well.

Right now we have activated APs but I bought our next APs with our Disney Club card before it ran out to get the discount. I did this rather then renewing because I didn't like the time our passes ran out.

We'll be arriving at 10 PM, so I would like to know the store hour as well. Also, where is it located? I have no recollection of seeing it at MCO.

No, they won't be open then. Shop hours are 7:00 am to 10:00 pm :(
