Hi there!
We are looking into going Jan2013...Will have elderly parents with us and 1 is handicapped and the other cant walk a lot-suffice to say it will be slow going around the parks.Anywho-can anyone compae the distance from the Little Mermaid section to the main building versus the distance from other standard rooms to the main building of say...ASMu or Pops? The resort maps dont have a distance key.
The reason I ask is that this will be my mothers' last time to Disney and I really wanted to stay in a new resort, by new I mean brand new and not just 1 I hadn't stayed in before. I believe she would really enjoy this resort, but am concerned about the walking distance. BTW-cant afford the suites so that's out :(
Thanks!

The LM rooms are the furthest away from Animation Hall, comparable to the distance from the 90s buildings at POP to Classic Hall. I would select one of the All Stars as they are much smaller in terms of the overall grounds. Is a wheelchair an option for her?

Yes,
It's actually my dad that will be doing all the walking. Thanks for the perspective!

The freedom that an ECV has given my Mum is incredible. It really didn't matter where we were located because she didn't need to walk.

You might want to think about hiring one - it will give your Mum freedom, no-one will have to push a wheelchair (that can be really hard in WDW) and it will make for an easier vacation for everyone. Disney was never an option for us until the EVC.

Good luck with your planning :goodvibes

Also look into scooter rental for both of your parents! There are quite a few companies that rent them to vacationers in the Orlando area. So you will have them at your resort and in the parks. They also have ones that can collapse down and fit in the back of a car trunk.

My mom rented one for my dad last trip down. It was great and made the trip so much easier!
