AOA v. Ft Wilderness cabins

I think y’all have helped me make up my mind! Thanks so much for the input and information! I think my husband would enjoy having the golf cart to get around on.

We've always rented a cart when we stayed at the Fort. But if someone didn't want to spend the money on it, I wouldn't tell them that they HAD to have it. I personally would make it happen for myself. If that means skipping on other extras while on the trip than I would. Having the cart is just very convenient and fun.
Make sure you call and reserve one before your stay if you want one. They don't charge you until your trip but they may all be taken if you wait to try to get one. Call 407-824-2742

I have not stayed at the Fort yet but for a brief time had a reservation there for this Christmas. A quick Google search will turn up Disney approved off site rental companies whose golf cart rental rates are a little better than Disneys rates.

I agree, but the company we use to rent a trailer from does not offer cart rental. Most of the sites I searched, were a few bucks cheaper cart price wise but the camper rental company we used was WAY under most prices. So I figured for what Im saving on the camper, I can pay a few bucks more and rent straight from Disney.

Off site rental companies are not allowed to deliver to the Disney property. You have to meet them off-site and have a way to get the cart back to the fort. I think I read that some companies will let you use their trailer but it just seems like a hassle for those who fly in, stay at the cabins, and don't have a vehicle.
