We are going to be planning our December 2013 trip soon. Our boys will be 9 and 6 when we go. They liked both of these options best out of all the resorts. Which would you suggest?

Personally I would choose the RR at POR. They are new rooms just like AoA will be but they have queen size beds rather than double. The LM rooms look like they are quite a walk from the lobby, main pool and food court so that may be something to consider. But having said that, it is all really a personal choice and dependent on what features are important to you. Either way you will have a great time! :)

Thanks for the reply!! I'm not thrilled with the LM rooms honestly but not in the rooms much anyway. We will also be at POR next month (just DH and I no kids) so liked the idea of not repeating resorts. And I'm not a big value fan. Originally we planned on AKL Savannah view but my kids didn't like how dark and brown the resort was. And my 4 yr old said he was scared of animals so close. Lol do there went that. Maybe when they are older :) I'm just torn on these 2 now

If you do not want to repeat resorts, have you considered Beach Club or one of the other Epcot resorts? If they see the pictures of Stormalong Bay (which is the best Disney pool IMO) they may want to try there. The short walk to Epcot and DHS is a great bonus and there is a lot to see at the Boardwalk. Okay, I admit I'm a huge BC fan so I'm a little biased ;) but I just thought I would throw it out there. Good luck in choosing and enjoy your kids free trip!!

I would pick AoA since you are staying at POR on the trip before. It would be fun to check out a new resort, and the price would be a bonus (I think AoA is cheaper, not 100% sure but you would think...). Less $ on the room means more $ for future Disney trips :)

Thanks. I'll have them look at that one!!

I was thinking that. But also not totally sold on a value. Hmmmm it's really a tough choice.

I vote for Beach Club! We stayed at a villa and it was the perfect amount of space and the pool was fantastic! The short walk to Epcot was also great when the bus lines were long. Beach Club all the way! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely be looking into this one!

With two boys I'd do the Royal Rooms, just because POR is great and they have all kinds of things they might like. They have a great pool and you can go fishing! Plus there's a boat to DTD.

Wonderful!!! Thank you!! :)

If your budget allows, I personally would pick a moderate or deluxe or deluxe villa over a value - even AoA. We just stayed at AoA last week in a suite and while the theming was cute and the pool was fun, the bedding was not comfortable and the hallways were extremely loud. I was really tired the whole time I was there because I never got a good night's sleep. I have no desire to ever stay at AoA again. I also prefer the amenities of mods and deluxes over values. I stayed in a POR RR back in March and it was very nice - much more comfortable and quieter than AoA. Polynesian is a lot of fun as well and BC/YC are fantastic!

With 2 boys, I'd be hesitant to book a Royal (Princess) room or Little Mermaid room.

How about a standard room at any value or moderate? Or a Pirates room at CBR? If it's within your budget, a deluxe room would be nice, too.

Thanks so much for the info. I really appreciate it!! I've been to poly. And it's def not a favorite of mine honestly. But your review is kinda what I was afraid of about AoA

We won't be doing value if we don't do AoA. We did pirate room this past September so going for a different one this time. As far as it being too "girly" that is not a concern for us or the boys. They like princesses and I don't find either room to be overly gender specific.
Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the input!

Another vote for Beach Club and its lovely Stormalong Bay. :thumbsup2 That being said, I'm intrigued by AoA enough to try it out this January.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to spend my day on the beach tomorrow researching the BC :) I have felt the same way about AoA. I'll be at POR next month for my adults only bday trip do hoping to get to check out AoA and now BC in person and hopefully that will help my decision :)

We fell in love last year; Stormalong Bay played a huge part in us "switching allegiance" to BC. Didn't realize how much we enjoyed going to the pool until then. I think, with kids that age, they'll have a blast in the pool. Funnily enough since you mention POR, the first part of our September trip will be in a POR Royal Guest Room -- since we couldn't help ourselves and tacked on days -- then off to the BC for the remainder. Are you doing a Royal Guest Room next month?

Ohh wow very excited now to really check it out!!! Going in December I hope the weather is warm enough to enjoy the pool!! Next month no, just a regular room. It's my husband and I and my sister and her fiancé going. They are saving for the wedding so went a little cheaper for them :) it will still be nice though im sure :) and I'd like to save the special rooms for when the kids are with us :)
