I remember reading 2 sections will be fully open before September 2012, with a 3rd section opening in September 2012.

But it looks like I'm unable to book AoA under the FD promo. Has anyone else been able to?

To be honest, I'm wanting to try staying off-site at Bonnet Creek this time. My husband really loves being onsite. So I thought AoA would be a great choice since I would love to stay there if we stay on-site.

Promos are done to fill resort rooms; I would say Disney is going to test the waters of the popularity of the resort with the options for families for 5 and 6. They may not even need to do FD for at least the first year or so.

So I would say it is NO accident they are not offering FD for AoA at this time.

The current FD promotion is only good through 3/29/2012. AoA doesn't open until 5/31/2012. So no FD available for that time frame yet.

Good point. You cannot book FD if it has not been offered yet.

To the OP, subscribe to a thread on the discount rates and codes board for your month and year. They will stay up-to-date on any announcements by Disney when FD is announced.

But again, if they can fill the resort upon opening at rack rate, they do not need to do discounts. You cannot pick and choose discounts.

FD is available during that time frame for some residents of other countries. I'm guessing the OP is not American. Could be wrong. I'm going with the "resort is too new" to be placed in the FD category reason!

Yes, I guess with AoA being new, Disney won't have to worry about filling it. I always thought all the resorts could be booked with FD, as long as there was still rooms for the promo. Ah well.

And yes, I'm not American. When I look at WDW's website, it shows me FD for various dates in 2012 including Aug 19 - Sept 29. Funny though... I thought everyone could see that. It doesn't identify me as Canadian or show that I'm on an Canadian website. It even says US in the web URL.

Thanks!

On the American version of the website, FD ends in March. If you switch it to the Canadian version, FD ends in September. I'm assuming you have to be Canadian to use it for the August to September dates.

The 8/19 dates did not open up to the Americans. It was only the August
25th dates that opened up. The Canadians had August 19th opened up and I was going that week. I thought Disney might open up that week to Americans.

I can't speak for free dining open to general public, but I can tell you that I had two different pin codes that do NOT apply to AOA. When I spoke to the cm on the phone, she told me that they are not honoring any offers at AOA since it is new and is projected to sell out do to demand.

In reading the details of the latest free dining promo, AoA and family suites are excluded. But I found that 2 rooms at a value are a bit cheaper. I don't need a kitchenette....I don't plan on cooking while on vacation anyway lol

1) Free Dining is paid for by the resort.
. . . it is deducted from the resort's profit
. . . the hotel General Manager has a say in FD volume
2) Usually, suites are not included
. . . too easy to book the rooms without discounts
. . . FD could be a major loss if a big family is in the room
3) At Disney, money talks.
4) And, no one dares to try to speak louder.
