We are going in July and I trying to decide between Lion King Suite or FW Cabin.

It will be myself, my wife, DD19 & DD14.

We have previously stayed at AS Movies(Herbie) and Pop(80's).

We will be driving down from PA so we will have a vehicle.

How far from transportation, food options, dedicated buses...etc

I understand the price difference, just want some opinions and thoughts

Please let me know any Pro's or Cons.

Not sure about FW Cabin...We have stayed in AoA cars and lion king. Lion King is close to main building, food court, etc. which means it is also close to buses as they pick up out front of the main building. We liked AoA just be prepared for theme overload!!! :)

FW Cabin for sure. With a car I see no downside. You will have 3 real beds & a Queen sleeper sofa. You will also have a fully equipped kitchen and a living/dining area.
Enjoy

The downside to the Fort Wilderness cabins is that with the bed options there, one of the kids WILL have to sleep in the same bedroom as you because the bedroom has the queen bed as well as the bunk bed. If you don't mind that you should be okay. Though given the age of your kids, they'd probably want more privacy? I dunno. The AoA comes with two bathrooms instead of just one you would get in the cabins.

You get more dining options with the cabins instead of just the food court at AoA. However you'd have to drive to them.

I've stayed in both. FW is nice, feels removed from the hustle and bustle. However, as toonaspie said, sleeping quarters are pretty tight and only one bath. AOA I stayed in a cars suite. We had 5 adults. Beds were plenty big, two full baths, a mini kitchen (micro, fridge, sink). Parents have their own private bed/bath. FW has lots of "stuff" to do. AOA has fun themes. Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll love it!

Unless you plan to make some meals in the kitchen at the cabin, I'd take a suite at AoA over a cabin in a heartbeat. Mostly for the reasons mentioned before: Private bedroom/bathroom for parents; 2 bathrooms, LK suites are very close to everything (food, pool, buses).

The cabins won't ever be an option for me. I have no use for the kitchen as I don't cook on vacation (the kitchenette in the suite is all I need). With 2 or more teenagers (especially girls), I want 2 bathrooms and an unlimited supply of hot water. I'm not sleeping in the living room while my kids get a private bedroom.

No decision to be made for me...it's an AoA suite hands down.

Hands down AoA, especially with adult kids.
- You have a bedroom and bathroom.
- Kids each get their own full bed.
- Kids get their own bathroom, split design.
- In minutes they walk to any pool, food court and buses.

Compared to Cabins which have:
- Bedroom has bed and bunks and very small. Wall to wall furniture.
- LR has fold out sofa. Awkward set up for older families.
- One bathroom.
- Cabins are isolated, a bus must be taken everywhere; cars only drive in/out campground.
- No quick walk to pool or food area.
- To parks; walk to internal bus, ride to boat or to switch to another park bus.

2 teenage girls, AoA has 2 bathrooms, so that's why I voted for AoA have fun

Another vote for AoA for most of the same reasons as stated above - we've stayed in both and the one night we just wanted to pick up a quick dinner there were no convenient options from the cabins unless you drove somewhere. The two bathrooms are also a huge deal as well as the fact that in July you'll have multiple pools within a short walking distance of your family suite.

Thanks for all of the responses.
The transportation and food are very important for us.
I didn't even think of the distance to the pools.

When we stayed at Pop last time, some days we ate at Pop and some days we ate at AoA.
It's nice to have those choices and the whole pizza for $17.99 is great.

I think I have made our decision, unless one of those great discount comes out.
But we are definitely in favor of AoA Lion King

Uh oh! I was too late to put in my vote to convince you to go with the Cabins.

We did a split stay at both with our family of five and I really thought we would prefer AoA. We all preferred the Cabins. So nice to park right next to your door and FW is so much fun. Since we drove, we took our bikes with us and had a blast riding all over the Fort. It's fun to bike to the pool. Can't do that at AoA. So much to do at FW. Sleep quality was better at the Cabins also. We found AoA to be very loud. We were there on a Halloween party night and people were banging doors well after midnight.

I'll bet your daughters would love renting a golf cart, too. That makes the pool an easy trip.

My daughter (9) has been asking to go back the Cabins. She loved them and says that of all the Disney resorts where we have stayed, that's the one she wants to go back to.

We did enjoy both resorts, but there was just something special about the Cabins.

Whatever your choice, I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip.

We stayed at AoA Finding Nemo Suites in August...never again. We have stayed at the Cabins and would do so again if we needed the space. The quietness of the area, the room that you have between the cabins, and the fact that we liked cooking out every night was great. Take the boat to MK...bus service is not great at the Cabins, but if you drive, well worth the stay.

How far was it to the pools at FW?
By foot?

How long was the boat ride to MK?
How were the buses inside FW?

how was the quick service food?

Since I stayed at Pop and we visited AoA I kind of know these answers for AoA

Your questions could probably be best answered on the Camping Board where there are regulars there for actual walkability and walk times.

But you asked about things that are the major issues for us with the Cabins. Transportation, walkability to anywhere in the campground (which is why folks rent golf carts) and food options.

How far was it to the pools at FW? By foot? Completely depends on where your cabin is but none are really close to the main pool.

How long was the boat ride to MK? Took us over an hour by time we walked to bus stop, waited for bus, got on bus and did the route to the boat, walked to boat, waited for boat then the boat ride over with a stop. We opted to drive to all other parks rather than do the interior bus then wait plus transfer to another bus.

How were the buses inside FW? We found they came by on the 20 minute time frame but they were usually crowded particularly beginning and end of day.

How was the quick service food? Due to traveling involved to get to it,
we ate in cabin or made sure we ate in parks before returning.

The red arrows would be the quick service location and the circle is the cabins.
