When the "new" wears off of AOA do you think Disney will have to offer more of a discount to stay in the family suites? It looks as if they are'nt really having a hard time filling the Little Mermaid rooms, but the family suites prices may keep them unoccupied in the future after the "new" wears off.

I'm here at Pop right now. My answer would be yes. The suites aren't even close to being full. We walked over twice. Once to look around and once to eat. I will say we booked bounce back at pop for 2 weeks for next year. I didn't even ask about AOa mermaids rooms. I still prefer pop. I guess I wasn't overly impressed.

I doubt it. With the discounts they've been offering it's still less expensive to stay there than in 2 rooms in a moderate. It's around the cost to stay there as it is to stay in the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.
Right now they're still a new option. For all we know, occupancy is exactly where they want it to be.

Sure they will offer more discounts in the future. Right now I am sure they are just soaking up the folks willing to pay top-dollar for something new and exciting. There are usually some kind of discounts covering the ASMu suites, so im sure AoA will get them in time too

I'm at least hoping there will be some passholder room-only discounts by early next summer for the LM rooms so I can justify staying there for SWW. :thumbsup2

The 3 night 4 day magic your way package for the LM room for October cost me about $1500 which included park hopper for 4 days and the DDP for my husband and I. Same price after calling and checking online. It's really not a bad price and it didn't include a discount for free dining. The other value resorts were about $200 less for the same package. The Little Mermaid is my favorite and I wanted to stay in the LM room. The deluxe and moderates were sold out anyway except for the Wilderness Cabins. I'm really looking forward to seeing the AoA. It's going to be fun. pixiedust::banana:

The suites are expensive. And yes I do think the hype will dye down soon. Esp for the suites. The LM rooms will always do well since they are your standard value room in WDW. I hope they do a nice discount! That would prob persuade my family more to stay there. I do think they should have done 2 suites and 2 standard rooms in AoA. I think that would even it out a bit, but we will have to see...;)

While I am looking forward to our stay in a LM room, I'm sorta hoping they overbook the LM rooms and the suites aren't selling, and we get some major pixie dust and get a suite for the price of a standard room...pixiedust:

It doesn't hurt to dream, right? :goodvibes

We are checking in on 12/31 to a LM room and we are thinking the same thing that they have overbooked and will need to move us!! :)

We've been going to WDW since the 70s and if the resort rates ever decreased, I sure didn't notice it. WDW operates on its own business model.
Where some resort operators might reduce rates when the newness wears off, Disney won't. If occupancy isn't what they want it to be, they'll spend more marketing money to boost it.:earsboy:

Am I missing something? Why were the other values less expensive? Were they offering free dining because Art of Animation shouldn't be 200 less than other values unless the other resorts was free dininig

Now that we've stayed at AoA we are hooked. It would be nice to get discounts but I can live with $250 a night during low season, especially if the bus service stays so awesome. All they need to do is tweak the food court a bit and the resort would be perfect.

We have a big group (like 200+ people) meeting up at Disney World next summer and we tried to get our group block at AoA. They said we couldn't since it was too popular right now. So it must be selling well.

Discounts or not, new or faded, this is our new home resort. I love it and plan on using AoA for many years to come during split stays and on nights that I need a one night room before moving on to AKL or other resort.

I don't think the hype will die down. There's a lot of families that aren't your standard 2 + 2 that will utilize the suites. Personally I prefer 2 rooms with 4 real beds and 2 bathrooms vs a pullout but we haven't tried the AoA suites so I don't know that I wouldn't like that. I think it' fills a niche that was lacking at WDW for families of more than 4 people. Besides POR, the cabins, and the ASMu suites there has been no place for a family of 5 or 6 to stay without paying deluxe prices
