Friday 24th - Christmas Eve
We woke up around 9am this morning. It was nice to have a lie-in. We both fancied Dennys for breakfast so off we went. Hubby had his usual corned beef has platter and I had the Denver scramble scrambled eggs with peppers, onions and cheese. Very nice. It also came with pancakes, which were divine. Hubby wanted some more beer so we stopped at Publix for beer, diet coke and some snacks. Luckily it wasnt too busy. Back at the room, we chilled out and I did some tidying up. We were still full from breakfast so we skipped lunch. We finished tidying the room, relaxed a bit more then showered and got ready for our big night at Epcot.
We left for Epcot about 4.30 and got straight in. Our PS was for 5.40pm so after hitting the pin station in Future World so I could buy the Epcot Christmas pin, we took a nice stroll to World Showcase. I was surprised that it wasnt busier for Christmas Eve. We walked through Canada (no Off Kilter today, boo hoo) to the UK and checked in for our PS. We were told 15 minutes, we ended up waiting for 40! Apparently they forgot to mention to the servers that we had the Candlelight Processional package otherwise wed have been seated quicker. Bah! There was an American man complaining about how hed booked his PS and was told he may have to sit outside. He went on and on about how he had 3 small children, didnt want them to get cold blah blah blah, then his father joined in saying he was a stockholder in Disney and he wanted to sit inside! Andy burst out laughing and the poor woman who was listening to the complaint had to fight so hard not to laugh. The outside patio heater was even warmer than the inside that night, there were heaters everywhere!
While waiting, we listened to the British Invasion, who I love. Finally, we were called. We were seated inside the dining room and were served by Mark from Brighton. To start, I had the lamb barley soup and hubby had the fruit and cheese platter (which I helped him finish). We both had fish and chips for our main course and it was delicious, I was really surprised. There was a lovely huge pot of tartare sauce as well mmm. We were finished by 7.20 so we walked to the American Adventure and joined the queue for the Candlelight Processional. The queue wasnt too bad, I think we joined it early enough. During our wait, we got chatting to a lovely couple (Dan & Missy) and time flew by.
waiting for the show to start
This was our first Candlelight Processional and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. Gary Sinise was fabulous. I loved the choir, and especially loved the Voices of Liberty. The show was very moving.
Gary Sinise is there somewhere, I swear!
This was Gary Sinises 5th year in a row of doing the show, how cool is that. We both thoroughly enjoyed the Processional and would do it again. It left me feeling very Christmassy.
We said goodbye to Dan & Missy and walked to Italy to find a spot for Illuminations, which I really love. We waited about 15 minutes. Illuminations was wonderful as usual and there was an extra 5 or so minutes at the end for Christmas which was truly amazing (and had me in tears I blame hormones!). At the end, green writing appeared on Spaceship Earth spelling out Seasons Greetings in several languages, which was a really nice touch.
I thought the arches looked so festive all lit up
the tree (and me) - it was very cold!
We made our way through World Showcase and Future World. Luckily we had parked as close to the front as you could so we didnt have to wait for a tram or walk far. We went back to our room for beer and That 70s Show.
