Thanks for all your lovely comments so far - it's nice to know people are enjoying them as much as I enjoy reading them :Pinkbounc

Day 5 continued.....

I love getting the monorail but what’s that smell every time you get in the carriage?? It’s a bit whiffy. The Contemporary Resort is only one stop from Magic Kingdom so we were there in no time. We had a little look in the shops on the 4th floor level and found some really nice pins that I hadn’t seen in Downtown Disney or Pop Century. As we were still half an hour or so early, we stopped for a drink in the Outer Rim bar. They had some lovely sounding cocktails but I was boring and stuck to diet coke. Andy had a Coors Light of course. We were served at our table and brought our drinks which was a nice touch.

We had the one drink and the time was approaching 6.45 so we decided to check in for our PS. There was a little queue but we were through in no time. What was lovely though was that when Susan from DU had made our PS’s, she’d let them know that it was our anniversary - well technically it wasn’t because our anniversary was a month ago but that was why we were doing the rehitching ceremony during our stay. It was a nice touch as we got thoroughly spoilt. We were wished a Happy anniversary and were then sent through to have our picture taken and once that was done, we went and sat down to wait for our buzzer to go off. We waited at least 15 minutes for it to go off. We could see Donald and Max posing for photos near the exit. There was quite a queue for them so we decided to wait until later.

We were taken to our table and were given special placemats to celebrate our anniversary which we thought was really lovely.

Our server was great and once she’d taken our drinks order, I went to investigate.

All I can say is wow, how much food??? I didn’t know where to start. If you wanted soup, there was chicken and rice soup. There was a huge salad bar but I skipped this and headed straight for the entrees. To start with, I had some mickey ravioli in marinara sauce, chicken tenders from the kids bar, pasta with chorizo and some Szechwan beef which was really yummy. I also picked up a piece of honey and ginger chicken but it was still on the bone. Still, it was nice.

As I got back with my plate, Minnie arrived. She was really sweet and gave me a kiss on the head. We had our photos taken with her.

I love these!

During our meal, Chip and Dale came out, as did Goofy and Mickey.

The characters were such great fun and were really good sports. At one table, one of the children was too shy and wouldn’t meet Mickey. Rather than walk away, Mickey got down on his hands and knees and climbed under the table, it was so funny.

We got several visits from the characters and we both really enjoyed ourselves. We both went up once more for entrees. This time I grabbed some prime rib, parmesan mashed potato and more ravioli.

Once we finished our main courses, our server brought out an anniversary cupcake with some hundreds and thousands around it, a chocolate Mickey on top and some sort of cream with 2 lit candles in it. It was really yummy.

We got spoilt by the characters, Minnie came over and posed again with us.

Chip came over and pointed at our special mats and clapped as if wishing us a happy anniversary. We were then shown our photos that we’d had taken. The photo had come out really well so we bought the package. It was just under $27 for 2 5x7 prints in folders, 2 huge key rings and a spare photo. They are lovely keepsakes. The photos were put in a carrier bag and passed to us. (I will take a photo of them and post them later.)

As Mickey came back round, he noticed the bag and he pointed at his face and went all shy.

It was about 8.30 by the time we’d finished. We had a bit of dessert - their dessert bar is something else! I managed a piece of carrot cake, while Andy had some sort of strawberry cake and some key lime pie. He didn’t like the key lime pie, he hates lime, and I had a little dig at him jokily saying well didn’t the piece of lime on top of the pie give you a clue as to what was in the pie?

Our dinner included our diet cokes and came to about $55 including a generous tip for our wonderful server, and was well worth it. We had such a wonderful evening and the characters really made it special. I came away with tears in my eyes.

We headed back to the monorail station and waited only a minute for the monorail to arrive.

It was quite full already but we managed to get a seat. The monorail stopped at the Transportation and Ticket Center, Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts before heading back to the Magic Kingdom. We got off here and headed for our bus stop. As we arrived at our stop, the Pop Century bus arrived. Once we’d climbed aboard, the bus left and as we were travelling back, Illuminations started and we saw quite a few of the fireworks from the bus.

Once back at Pop, Andy went back to the room to fetch the laptop whilst I headed for the shop to pick up some postcards. We rendezvoused by Classic Concoctions to find it closed so we headed outside to the Petals Pool Bar. The pool was packed and we managed to grab the last free table near the bar. We had a pleasant time loading up the photos of the evening and I typed up tonight’s trip report while it was fresh in my mind. Andy drank his Coors and occasionally picked me up some refills for my mug. We headed back to our room about 11pm.

Coming up: Epcot and fish and chips!

I love Chef Mickeys :) Breakfast or Dinner.

Lovely pictures and review. Loved the placemats - did you get to keep them??

We did yes :D Every time I look at them I smile. If you tell them it's an anniversary or birthday they print them out for you and tell you that you can take them home, such a sweet idea.

Chef Mickey's is great :) I love dinner there! (Never tried breakfast though I'm sure that's good too!)

How fantastic that you got to keep the placemats!
