Shopping and a day off today. Wake around 8am to find hubby’s been awake since 7. He wants Denny’s for breakfast so we go out and search for one on the 192. The one we do find is in the middle of shops which I find weird as all the ones I’ve been to before are set on their own. We go in and find it’s obviously a franchise. We sit down and are instantly not impressed. There is none of the atmosphere even though the menu looks the same. The layout is different and lacks charm. There isn’t any music at all. Hubby has the corned beef hash platter and I choose Moons Over My Hammy which is scrambled egg, ham and cheese in toast with hash browns. The food comes and again, we’re not impressed. The portion sizes and presentation are totally lacking. Hubby’s platter is burnt. We leave vowing not to come to this one again and don’t leave a tip. I tell hubby I could’ve sworn that the other Denny’s we ate at was on the 192 so we’re looking for it on the way back – and we find it, right next to our turning so we didn’t see it when we pulled out. Doh! We head back to shower and we’re off shopping.

First stop – Orlando Premium Outlets. Hubby gets 2 tops and a jacket at Nike and we get 2 pressies at Big Dogs. I love the Big Dogs shops, their t-shirts are great. The Puma, Reebok and Adidas shops are as crap as previously remembered and hubby comes out empty handed. We wander round and before we know it, it’s nearly half one. We go to the food court to investigate and find a Subway. We’ve never eaten here before so we decide to try it. One word – yum. Oh and another – choice! And too much of it. We find what we want – sweet onion chicken teriyaki. First we have to choose a size – 6 inch or foot long. Next, bread – there are 5 different types. Eek. Then, it’s what do we want on it. The woman serving is very impatient with us and is shouting out come on come on, then muttering in her native language! We finally choose our additions, salad-wise, and we’re off to eat it. $13 for 2 huge subs and a large drink to share. The subs are delicious – I heartily recommend them.

We finish ploughing the mall and then it’s off to Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlet. I hate it – it’s too spread out and it’s huge. I want Old Navy and hubby wants Reebok so he parks in between the two and off we go our separate ways. The Old Navy Outlet is huge. Everything is reduced compared to the normal prices. All the bargains in the women’s section are in either XS or S so no good for me, but I do end up with another 7 tops – and I’m only charged for 6 so result! Hubby buys a pair of shorts from Reebok. By now it’s gone 2.30 and I’ve had enough so it’s back to the room where we both fall asleep again – but not before setting the alarm so we don’t sleep through our PS at Boma at 6.30pm. Just as well we set the alarm – it wakes us at 5.30! At 5.45 I drag my butt out of bed and get ready.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is easy to find so we’re there before half 6. We park up and head inside. What a place! This is the first hotel we’ve gone to and impressed is not the word. The place is gorgeous and there is so much attention to detail. There’s a huge reception area with lots of comfy sofas and chairs. Boma is downstairs so off we go. The restaurant is huge. We check in and are given a pager. 15 minutes later we’re finally called. By this time we’re both starving and can’t wait to eat. Our server explains the layout. There are four stations: left to right you’ve got desserts, soup, salad then entrees. We head for the soups first. There’s chickpea, butternut squash, chicken corn porridge and chicken pepperpot. We both opt for this and it’s incredible. The broth is gorgeous and it’s full of peppers, mushrooms, spinach and of course chicken. It’s to die for and I have 2 bowls. We then head up to the entrees, missing out the salad as we want pudding!! There is quite a lot of choice at the entrée stand – Durban spiced chicken (which is still on the bone), prime rib, salmon steak and pork loin cooked in coca cola. Hubby has the chicken and I tuck into the prime rib and the pork loin. The prime rib is very succulent and soft, really lovely. And the pork loin is really lovely. There is roasted veggies, a dish I can’t remember the name of but it’s basically egg, beef and lamb mince in spices – scrummy! – moroccan couscous, potatoes, rice with kidney beans and tomato sauce – all lovely. There’s macaroni and cheese, chicken wings and nuggets with chips for the kiddies. Everything we tried was delicious. The best is left until last though – dessert! We were both glad we had only one plate of entrees, the pud was that good. The absolute best of the bunch in my opinion was the banana tiramisu. Divine – it’s basically banana cake and lots of cream, no coffee at all. There were also mini cheesecakes – pineapple with a white choc biscuit base and a choc mousse with a choc biscuit base. The zebra dome cake, like little chocs, are ok but not worthy of all the fuss they get. Hubby loved the cheesecake but also enjoyed the banana bread pudding. There was also a fresh fruit salad. We had to try a little bit of everything and was stuffed. With drinks, the meal came to $51. Worth every penny in our opinion. We leave Boma feeling nicely full and very satisfied. A visit to Boma is a must.

We head next to Downtown Disney so I can send postcards. Did you know that if you send your cards from the Wonderful World of Memories in Marketplace that they get a Disney postmark? It’s the only place in the whole resort to get this apparently. Postage back to the UK was 70c. I buy some more postcards as keepsakes and we wander back, going through the World of Disney and Pin Traders. At Pin Traders, I build a pin with Eeyore and Tinkerbell – my 2 fave characters. They engrave it with my name on too. It cost me nearly $12 with tax and it’s beautiful. Well worth buying a personalised pin. I also buy a lovely Walt Disney World book full of lovely pics and including the whole resort. By now it’s nearing 10.30 so it’s back to Pop Century and some drinks in the bar until 12am. Back in our room, I get no sleep as hubby snores all night long so I’m shattered for Universal.
