Anywhere You have Eaten That You Know You Won't Go Back?

(especially Ducklite). Never have I seen such a list of "never agains!". We've been six years in a row, and have never had a "lousy" meal.. some were not so memorable, but nothing to label "yuck". Le Cellier is one of our musts... have never had anything less than wonderful experiences with food and CM's.

Boy, some of you folks sure are picky!!

I've eaten over 300 meals in WDW over the past five years (and believe it or not, have the receipts to prove it!). I go 3-4 times a year for between 5 and 14 days at a time. This has given me the opportunity to sample just about every restarant at WDW, and I think form a pretty fair opinion.

I also like Le Cellier, and agree, we've always had at least good experiences.

It takes a lot to really chase me from a place unless I've had repeated bad experiences, although there are a few on my list that once was enough forever.

I'm really not that hard to please--remember, I'm the one who had a tray full of drinks dumped on me last month at the Kona Cafe and didn't get upset over it--it happens. :)

Worst dining experience my wife and I have EVER had anywhere was at the 50's Prime Time. My wife was 5 months pregnant with our now 6 year old son. For anyone that's eaten there you know how close together the tables are. Well the family at the next table over had like 4 kids between 2 and 7.

They made a stong argument for the advantages of beating your kids.

j/k

But these kids were Satan's spawn. Jumping up and down, screaming, playing under the table, running around the restaurant... The parents were -trying- to settle them down but nothing worked. They even put a kid in timeout. THEY MADE HIM GO STAND ABOUT 6 FEET AWAY BETWEEN TWO OTHER TABLES WITH OTHER PEOPLE SITTING THERE!

The entire room erupted in applause when they family finally finished and left (returned to hell?). My wife and I decided it was good that she was already pregnant otherwise we'd probably have skipped kids altogether.

LOL! It sounds like those kids are going to be in for a shock of reality down the line...but as my mom always said to my "always in trouble brother" -- "I hope you have one that turns out just like you!" Regretfully those adults should have been smart enough to see that their kids needed to be somewhere--anywhere--else.

Here's my "YUCK!" list:

(1) Le Cellier -- terrible service, mediocre food
(2) SciFi Drivein -- terrible food, mediocre service
(3) ESPN Club -- bad food *and* service

Edited to add Le Cellier review:
We had a PS for 8:15 pm and arrived on time with our 8 month old daughter. We were given no indication that there would be a long wait, but we began to get the hint as people began to leave the restaurant complaining about their wait. We waited almost an hour for our table. When we checked about 15 minutes into the process we were told we would be called soon. We would have left and eaten somewhere else, but by the time we decided to do just that we knew that it would have taken just as long to find somewhere else to eat than to just hang tight. My DD was crabby after the long wait and so was I.

We were finally seated after IlluniNations started. Our server was scatter-brained. He messed up our order twice. The kitchen sent out a well done steak when I ordered medium rare. Finally, we had to wait 15 minutes to pay our bill. I think we finally got up from the table and the waiter came running. When I walked out I knew I would not be back.

FWIW, I happen to like the Biergarten. Then again, I love the band, I like German food and bier.

ABC Commissary - they took one of my favorite foods, lo mein, and turned it into who knows what. It was gooey and tasteless. Their chicken nuggets were the only ones that my kids had at WDW that were of the McNugget variety. However, the fish & chips was very good. I swiped my mom's last piece of fish, I was so hungry.

Liberty Tree Tavern - I didn't care for most of the food, although the salad was out of this world. The only reason we went there was because my dad was fading fast and needed to sit down in the A/C and get some food.

I was pleasantly surprised by Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. The rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes was very good. The kids' chicken fingers looked really good, tender breaded chicken filets. A few notches above what I expected.

I will NEVER - EVER eat at Coral Reef again. What they served us looked and smelled like something that they found floating dead in the fish tank. Just Nasty - after leaving there we went to get some decent food in World Showcase.

Fulton's at DTD. Terrible service, quality of food (not fresh seafood), and dirty!

The only place on my "over my dead body" list is 50's Prime Time Cafe. I should never have eaten there in the first place - I'm just not a person who appreciates the whole "Eat your vegetables, missy!" thing. (I didn't even order vegetables - never do - but you know what I mean.) The food was also less than impressive, but frankly even if the food were V&A-level, I think the atmosphere would keep me away.

I know I should try it again, but I'm really resistant: Flying Fish (November 2001).

Will probably try again, but not any time soon: Spoodles (March 2003).

Generally speaking, the food is one of my favorite parts of any trip to WDW. :)

50s Primetime, ate there with a friend last year and the 30 minute wait we had was not worth the food we got. Plus, the whole theme just didn't appeal once i got inside and met our waitress. She fit her part, but i found it kind of annoying. They definatly seem to take more time with other people than some too.

Need I say more ?
WOW, my thoughts are totally opposite!

We LOVED Rainforest Cafe AK - as well as all other Rainforest Cafe's!

The atmosphere is supposed to be loud, so if you are looking for a quite place to eat, this is not the place to go.

As far as Expensive, ALL restaurants on Disney property are expensive.

Just slightly 'off-this topic' - but did any of you complain about your dining experience? Did you get any result? IMHO I think that when you're spending the kind of bucks that eating on-site means, you ought to let them know when they don't deliver!

Annie.

Annie - There wouldn't have been much point in me complaining about the atmosphere at PTC - as I said, I should have known I would hate the atmosphere. But in general, yes, if I have a hideous meal somewhere I will *calmly and politely* talk to a manager.

In fact, I did just that during my September visit to Coral Reef; normally a favorite, but the service was flat-out poor. The manager could not have been more receptive or apologetic. Frosting on the cake: he provided us, unasked, with a restricted viewing are for Illuminations and sent a signed pic of Cinderella to our hotel room.

Planet Hollywood: I should have known better to begin with

Sci Fi: It was cute, but the food was less than mediocre as was the service. Once just to see the cute atmosphere is enough

Definitely the San Angel Inn and Beaches & Cream. Those top the "not if they were paying me" list!

Erin :D

50's Prime Time Cafe:
Slow Service
Did not like the "Interaction" (if thats what you want to call it)
Cold Food

Never again:
Whispering Canyon – so misnamed, Screaming Canyon would be more appropriate
Maya Grill – The last time we went there, our server brought out an appetizer that we hadn’t ordered. Not realizing that this wasn’t just part of the service, we dug in. Five minutes later, the server comes back out, informs us that this was meant to be an appetizer for another table, and then takes it away! I hope he threw it away and didn’t actually *give* it to the other table.
Alfredo’s – I can get better Italian food elsewhere for the same money
American Adventure – I’m embarrassed that this is the American pavilion. McDonald’s would be better.
Chefs de France – Food quality has been slipping these past few years. Get in your rental car and go to Coq Au Vin (local Orlando restaurant) instead.
Sci-Fi – incredibly neat atmosphere, but the food just isn’t as good as elsewhere
Any place serving mass-produced pizza

And just to prove that there are restaurants that I like too:
Would go again:
Yacht Club Galley
Kona Cafe
Le Cellier
San Angel Inn
Cape May Cafe
Yachtsman’s Steakhouse
Concourse Steakhouse

Would definitely go again (my favorites):
Narcossee’s
Coral Reef
Citrico’s
‘Ohana
Spoodles
Flying Fish
Artist Point
Boma

Hmmm... why are my favorites also the more expensive ones? Sigh.

It's interesting...a lot of places people are saying are terrible, others love...that's why there are so many different restaurants in the world, I guess. The only bad place we've eaten and won't go back was Planet Hollywood. Very long wait, bad service, loud and very over-priced.

Marrakesh (I never get the name right, I seem to try to block it out:confused: ) The sit down in Morrocco. Bad food, bad service, just bad.
