Good luck in your quest. I haven't found any place at WDW yet that has good Southern cooking. Please come back and let us know if you do.

Blackened is New Orleans, Southern is fried (usually in cornmeal). Blackened is also usually very spicy also.

Sorry, for someone out here on the left coast New Orleans is SOUTH! Of course my DH still refers to my parents in Minnesota as being "back East"....

No harm no foul...if you like the catfish, you like the catfish...if you don't, doesn't bug me at all......

Guess I'm just out of luck then - for now. We don't head offsite while we're at WDW, and since we live in Florida I can get good "normal" seafood any time - no reason to go out of our way while on vacation. I can survive for a week without normal seafood.

Boatwrights is southern, they have some seafood items on their menu.

I also second the House of Blues. We went to their Sunday brunch and it was all southern!!!

I've been to the House of Blues Sunday brunch (it's great by the way!) and to Boatwright's. While both are restaurants I can recommend, my guess is that neither will satisfy a Southern's yen for real Southern fried seafood.

I tend to go with the previous posters suggestion to just look at my time at WDW as a dining experience. I'm from Alabama, I can have real Southern cooking anytime....at any number of restaurants near me or at my own house. I've come to love some of the dishes that I most likely would have never tried otherwise.

maybe you can try eating at olivias at old key west...they have grouper on the menu and it is a small place so if it is not busy the chef may fry it for you.....
