Anything worth doing in Toontown?

The last time I went I wasn't impressed. The little roller coaster may be good for a couple of my little kids. Other than that, is there anything we really must do in toontown? I was thinking about skipping it entirely, except for the roller coaster.

I think it is great place to meet Mickey (air conditioning). We also met Minnie at her house.
We did not ride either ride in ToonTown.
My kids liked all the buttons to push around town.
There are also lots of cute photo ops.

However, depending on how many days you have in the park, I would not hesitate to skip it if it took away from something else.

We usually skip the rollercoaster, only because it's slow moving and the line is usually long. We do grab fastpasses for Roger Rabbit though and usually ride it.

I do think Toon Town is a great place to let your kids run around. As the day wears on, my son tires of waiting and standing in lines or sitting and watching shows, etc, so we usually let him run around and play in Toon Town for awhile just to burn off steam. It does get hot and crowded in the summer though, but any other time of the year, it's great!

you can ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin... Plus I think the fastpass machines for that ride are off-network. Only worth riding if you don't have to stand in line... They have a good store in ToonTown...Gag Factory...

it can be a really good place for very little children (like, 5 and under), if it isn't too crowded. lots of places for them to explore and touch. we never spent much time there, but when our kids were really tiny, they seemed to enjoy walking around in TT.

now that my kids are older, we RARELY bother with it. every third trip or so, we'll go get on the coaster if there's a reasonable line (half hour or less - otherwise it isn't worth it), or ride RR (but only if there's a line under 20 minutes, because there's no way i'd wait longer for that ride). we skip TT on most trips to DLR, and nobody ever seems to miss it.

I really like going for the photo opportunitys - seeing Mickey & Minnie at their respective houses and what not. The themeing there is spot on and I love it. But I usually skip the rides - maybe take a spin on RRCS if I can get a fast pass or it's early in the AM with no line.

We go to Toontown for Mickey & Minnie, we've also seen Goofy, Donald and Pluto in TT. We really only like to ride RR, but sometimes the girls like to ride Gadget's Go Coaster.

If the kids are little enough to appreciate that coaster, then they would definitely appreciate poking around all the little things Disney created in TT. Pushing doorbells, trying to open doors, posing in the "jail" and breaking out, etc. And of course meeting the characters.

I thought it was the worst place to see Mickey, we had to wait for almost an hour in a very stuffy house! It was the only time we saw him as "classic" mickey though. We saw him on Main St., where we only had to wait 2 minutes and over in CA, where we waited maybe 5 min.

If your kids are little they will like TT, but if I was on a time crunch it is the first land I would take off my list.

I will not put toontown on the list of "must dos", but if we have spare time and the kids want to go, then we will. My kids aren't really interested in meeting characters. They just want to ride the rides and be jedis.

I love the atmosphere of ToonTown. It just makes me happy, even without the rides or meeting characters. But if I was pressed for time, I'd probably skip it (though I'd miss it!).

We did TT on our summer trip and the kids loved it. Had photos taken with Minnie, Mickey and Goofy there. They loved walking through Mickey and Minnie's house. We skipped it this last trip cause we only had 2 days and I was on a mission to ride everything we had missed our summer trip.

I don't know - the Roger Rabbit queue is really worth seeing if you've seen the movie.

I didn't like Rodger Rabbit. Dh didn't either. Our kids have never seen it and I have no desire to make them watch it. We went on the Rodger Rabbit ride the last time we were there (6 years ago) and none of us liked the ride. We already intended to skip that one.

FWIW, the house can be very different from one time to the other. In '07, it was raining HARD, and everyone fled for Mickey's house. So it was just one huge, solid line. However, the characters also fled for the house, and they spread themselves out along the line, which was nice.

But the other times we've been in there, it's more relaxed and calm, with the main line being in the movie room. Then after the movie room you go to a room and meet Mickey (once he was Sorcerer Mickey, the other time he was Steamboat Willie Mickey).

Very different experiences each time.

I liked going to TT to meet Mickey. I went during the less busy hours it seemed, so I never had to wait very long to see Mickey and get a picture. Kinda wish I knew his costume schedule so I get all the pictures...lol

The other stuff was so-so.

MAKE them watch it?? WHY would you make them watch ANY Disney movie? FTR, I've never had to make my kids watch RR, they love it!
As for the ride, it's fun but DBF and I don't do it every time either, it's one we can skip with no issues. The line is very cool if you've seen the movie, if you FP it you cut right to the front. btw, it's Roger Rabbit, not Rodger Rabbit.
