Anything special for solo guests?

If your resort or TS restaurant knows you're there solo, do they do anything special or out of the ordinary? I've read about CMs doing special things if they know its a birthday or anniversary, but what about if they know you're a solo guest? I'm really curious.

I have not found that the resorts or servers do anything out of the ordinary, but I've found that other cast members (not in restaurants) are more likely to strike up conversations with you.

I agree with that. Whenever you ask a CM to take your picture and say it is because you are alone, you can be sure you'll have a nice conversation afterwards.
But they don't do anything special in the restaurants.
At 50 PTC, I felt rather ignored I got served my food and refills, but none of the antics. I didn't even get the viewmaster for dessert (as opposed to all the other tables around me). Oh well

I don't think WDW is going to go out of their way to promote people taking trips by themselves. In fact, when I got my quote the CM said "Hold on- there's something wrong with these numbers!" because the price was so low.

I have run into servers and hosts that will go out of their way to have a conversation with you if you are dining solo. Narcoossee's and Coral Reef come to mind. And at LTT, the servers went out of their way to make sure I had my picture taken with the characters.

I actually got a towel animal in my room!! I didn't think I would once mousekeeping figured out I was alone, but I got one on my last day at AK!! It really made me feel special. While I do not recall any special TS service, the servers absolutely did not rush me during my meal. Even at the CG, which is usually pretty full. I struck up conversations with lots of CMs, and they all seemed jealous that I was there alone.

I went solo last month, and they did nothing special for me. Fortunantly, I never felt ignored though.

Seven solo trips and no one's done anything special. On my last trip, the dream squad even tried to ignore me as they gave everyone else a dream FP. But I don't think that's what you mean by being treated special.

Hi everyone! I just took my first solo trip last week and I had a great time (thanks to all of you suggestions!). Im 23 years old which might be a little young for a solo trip but my boyfriend is working at Epcot and I missed him so much that I had to go see him.

Anyway, my boyfriend works a lot so I was in the parks by myself everyday! I did notice that a lot of people talked to me and went out of their way to strike up conversations. That was so nice! The only other special treatment I seemed to get was Cast member discounts. Now, I am not a cast member. But everytime I went to get food, I kept getting asked if I was. I always said no and that I was just visiting and on vacation. Well, this didn't stop several people from giving me a cast member discount anyway. I dont know why they did, but it was greatly appreciated on my part!!

Im going back next week and will be there for 16 days by myself so if I get any other special treatment I will be sure to report back!!

I never felt ignored being solo.
I ate at 50's also didn't get the antics, but the server was great and kept checkin on me.

I've been reading the Solo disney threads. I'm going to jump in and go it alone for my B-day in Feb. I've been to Disney since 1979, (I'm 54 yrs young), many, many, times, and will be there 11/11-11/17 (with SIL & neice) but I've always wanted to go alone to do what I want to do. I've travelled across the world alone, but always hesitated to do WDW by myself...Thanks!

I've been to Disney alone in 2004 and nobody did anything special, but no one ignore me. CM took every single pictures I asked for and at the 1900 Park Fare, I had a wonderful service

If you mention that you are alone at some TS locations and ask kindly for the most entertaining view I have been lucky and had the best seat in the house. For example my perfect little corner surrounded by windows at Liberty Tree Tavern and the chef view seat at California Grill with a constant stream of samples.

I have also found that CM like you as a capacity builder and if you catch their eye on many rides and put up one finger (not that finger) you get bumped up to the front. Happens all the time.

I'm hoping to go next month (trying now to get a room reserved) and it looks like I may be going on my first solo trip. My kids think I'll be lonely but I'm looking forward to a little "me" time. My BFF offered to go but she's not a Disneyfreak like me and I feel she'd just go along to be nice. Plus if I go alone, I can go at my own pace (which means I walk too fast which my kids hate )

I don't care who knows I'm solo at a restaurant or in line at the park, but I don't advertise it at the resort. (Too many years of traveling solo elsewhere as a woman). I'm even in the habit of cheerfully saying "I'm back!" as I let myself into my (empty) room at night. Or "Be right back!" as I let myself out.

WDW isn't a hotbed of crime, but there's no need to forget basic safety precautions, either.

When in Feb are you going and where would you stay?? I'm staying at Pop 2/8 thru 2/15 and will be SOLO!!!
