will the resorts do anything special for a guest for his/her b-day? my mom's b-day will be during our trip and just wondering if i should let the resort know...

thanks!

Definitely let the resort know! I took my DD for her 11th birthday & let her choose the resorts - 5 different ones in 9 days (whew!) - at POR, a signed card from Mickey was waiting. At the Poly, she received a cake, party hats, & balloons (very unexpected!). Everywhere we went all week people sang to her, gave her decorated cupcakes, buttons, etc... The only times I mentioned it were on my room faxes to POR & Poly (other places we stayed were VWL, BWV, & Dolphin). Otherwise, CM's would ask her why she was visiting & she'd say to celebrate her birthday & the CM's went nuts from there - it was an awesome week for her, which was the whole point of taking her out of school for a week (I'm a teacher) - she'd had a very traumatic year & needed some "Disney magic" & pixie dust! WDW didn't disappoint.

Yes, they will make it a memorable BD even if it is an adult. Make sure to tell them when checking in or before.

Hi,

Definately mention it to the resort but don't get too carried away with expectations... some people note special occasions and mention it a few times and not a thing happens :(

I have seen several posts from people really disappointed that no pixie dust was scattered for them.

Others are overwhelmed with wonderful surprises :)

It really is the luck of the draw ~ have a fun holiday regardless

This sounds like a good time to "make your own magic!"

You can order Mom an arrangement from the Disney Florist, arrange special treats from your resort's room service, order something special to be delivered from Shirley at The Perfect Gift...

Disney pixie dust doesn't happen on demand, and I agree that you'll likely be setting yourself up for disappointment if you EXPECT surprises.

If it happens, GREAT! But if not, *you* can create wonderful memories for your mom. Remember that thousands of WDW guests each day are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

(As well as telling the resort, you'll probably increase the attention to your mom on her day if you can get her to wear a big button or something that announces that it's her birthday... you never know who might take the time to find a way to help her celebrate!)

Have a wonderful trip!
