I have a very fearful son.

We finally got him to go on one ride....It's a Small World. He loved that.

But he's VERY sensitive.

Is there anything on the Nemo ride that could potentially scare him? Loud noises? Dark, things jumping out, etc?

There is a spot where a large fish with big teeth sort of jumps out snapping his jaws, Dory called him "snappy Jaws". He made the adult I was riding with jump. None of the kids we were with were at all bothered, but he did make a couple jump.

don't worry. its sposedto be a funny ride!!! :happytv: :rotfl2: I have never been on it,so sorry. :confused3 I hope you have fun!    :dance3: :cheer2: :yay:  :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :grouphug:      p.s this is B.Bump's dauter. :wave2: :

omg i was there in june, before the whole nemo theme was done... but the giant shart was in one of the rooms and omg i almost DIED. whats his name? bruce? anyways WOW SCARY!

I'm very sensitive to this because I have a dd who is scared easily, too. The one scary-looking fish does sort of jump out in the dark and the following scene is the old sunken boat with the shark looking for Nemo. The first one is over pretty quickly - the second lasts a bit longer. My dd was fine - but I'm pretty sure she was glad I was next to her.

My dd doesn't like Pirates, HM, the Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror because of the sounds and scenes. (You should have seen her tonight when they pulled the Halloween Wishes out on us at the MK tonight...not a pretty scene...."mommy, hurry" - as we're rushing down Main Street out of the park. She's 9. :confused3 )

I would still give it a try. I hope he loves it.

DS didn't like that one fish either. The big teeth chasing Marlin and Dory got him worried and he just covered his eyes until it was finished.

Thanks for all your advice guys!

I think I'lll try to get him to go on it, but not push the issue too much.

I'm glad I read this post. My daughter (4) is also the sensitive type. I didn't even think about scary things on the Nemo ride. Thanks for asking thirtycats! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh....there isn't anything scary on the ride. I've been twice and the fish and the shark are not scary in the least! Hahahahaha

I have a short video of this ride and a few pictures now if I can only figure out how to post the video.

Hopefully I'll have time to figure it out this weekend :thumbsup2

For toddlers the shark seen might be a tad scarry also the entrance section is on the dark side. Otherwise there really isn't that much too this ride. I for one think they could have done so much more.

I'm not quite there yet but if you look in my siggie at the bottom there is a link to my "Clamshell trip report" where I will hopefully have the pictures/video added soon.

There's a part where you are about the enter the EAC that is all dark and you see some purple lights. It's over quickly. There is also an area with a bunch of jellyfish going up and down slowly but I don't think it's threatening or scary, just probably strange to a kid who has no idea what those things are.

I agree that the Nemo ride is a friendly experience overall, but the scene with the angler fish could frighten some people.

A video would be great!

I'm hoping he'll watch it beforehand and then know if he wants to go or not.

The challenge is getting him to watch the video of the ride. Sometimes he even refuses to do that!

If he is over 5, there's only one way to get him over it. Imersion therapy. We don't give our son the choice, he goes on everything he is tall enough for. The first Tower of Terror was hard, but he sure had fun the next 3 times!

Think about what you're asking....Now if your son is 3 years old or something, that OK. But we're talking about whether or not your kid "is able" to go on a FINDING NEMO ride!! Help him overcome this, otherwise why are you wasting your time at themeparks at all? Don't give them the choice, don't allow them to be scared, don't even talk about things being scary, just go on the ride. Sorry to sound direct, but my wife and I have strong feelings as we watch our nephews being raised to be so scared of everything that they never have any fun.

Edited to add: I was always too scared to go on the big rides also as I was growing up. This was mostly because my parents never went on them either. I was a married adult before I really learned to go on the "big" rides. Oh, how much fun I missed out on as a kid! I'm not letting my kid become scared. We simply don't allow him the option of being scared. It's sounds mean, but it's not like that. It's just that he hasn't ever learned from us that there is such a thing as "not going on rides" due to being scared. It has worked really well....except for the Jurrasic park ride. :)

The children we had with us felt the angler fish was a little scary but more surprising- they were 10 and 12.

I'm assuming the Finding Nemo ride is in MK? Where in MK is it? Thanks for your help in advance!

There definitely is a "scary" part with darkness and the bad guy shark.
