Anything free to do in Nassau

Taking the 3 day cruise in Decenber 04, Just wondering if there are any free things to do. Can you walk around the island? What are the best excursions??

You can definitely walk around and window shop, and for a few dollars ($4 or $5 per person each way) you can go to the public beach on Paradise Island.

Thanks Inkkognito= Just what I wanted to know. I think we will do a little shopping on Nassau and then hang out on the ship.

As has been said, if you are willing to "walk" you can have a nice time.

We took a taxi (easy to get right in port) over to Paradise Island...$4 per person, went directly to Atlantis and spent a couple of hours looking around, visiting the casino and shops and being totally amazed at the lobby floor to ceiling aquariums. Didn't do any of the tours, but, saw enough to say we had been there. Didn't cost anything except the taxi fare. Taxis waiting at the door to go back to the ship. Easy "tour" to do on your own.

Disney describes the Altantis exucsion requires extensive walking. Can I do it with my 4-year old kid: Going there by ourselves without having to walk too much?

I would describe our Atlantis "on our own tour" as meandering...just easy strolling around the public areas. We took a 5 and 8 year old with us and found it to be a perfect outing. Taxi took us right to the door and we picked one up there for the trip back to the ship. We were back at the ship for lunch and then went into town...which is also right at the port... for a little shopping in the afternoon. Nice relaxing day. Before we went, I too, was wondering if you could just show up at Atlantis and look around without paying for tours...the answer is yes!!!
