Anyplace we don't want to stay at Hojo's?

We are booked at Hojo's with an NDD1 room-non-smoking/2 oversized double beds.

I haven't made any requests and know that they can't always be honored. But am wondering if there is anything we "don't" want? I did ask for a more quiet room...like not near banging doors etc. as we have a 5 and 4 yr old that will be with us. I thought I read someplace that there may be freeway noise? I also asked for a balcony. I wasn't sure if we should ask for a first floor room what with the young kids and possibly having to carry them up at night. I was worried a first floor might be louder.

Any suggestions? All their rooms are pretty much booked for our stay end of May. We are getting 2 nights at the ent rate. But it's not worth it to stay there if we won't be able to sleep at night b/c of noise etc. My boys aren't great hotel sleepers...of course..hopefully they will be too wiped out to stay awake.

TIA!

Do you know which building your in? I'm assuming possibly building 1 based on the NDD1, but I'm not sure I'm understanding it right. Blding 1 is noisier than blding 2, is what I've heard. Either way, I'm willing to bet you'll all be exhausted after a hard day's play in DL and the noise probably won't keep you up, unless you're super light sleepers used to complete silence.

The NDD1 rooms are in buildings 3, 4, 5, and 6.

If you look at the map you can see that the east side of building #1 is right next to the freeway. Those are the noisy rooms to avoid.

The HoJo is known for excellent customer service. One of the HoJo managers is Lorealle, and she posts on the DIS fairly often. I would send her an e-mail and ask for her assistance. I e-mailed the HoJo a couple of times last year, and they were very helpful both times. Lorealle's e-mail address is lorealle.bishop@hojoanaheim.com.

Thanks for the info and links. That was very helpful.

Has anyone ever stayed in any of those buildings..3, 4, 5, 6? Should I be worried about noise? Or am I just worrying about one more thing for nothing? :)

Just an aside-- my kids aren't great hotel sleepers, either. Have you tried a white noise machine? We started out using them for the baby's room when the older siblings got noisy during naptime, but then they got used to falling asleep to the sound of rain or waves, etc. Then we found when we took it on trips, they fell asleep much easier with that familiar background noise-- which also sort of masks the sounds coming from outside your hotel room. Just an idea. :)

I think I was in building four before. We had no freeway noise, it sorta faces into the other builidings so you're not near the freeway. But with that said, my dad and stepmom stayed in one of the infamous loud rooms last november, and with the door to the balcony shut I could barely hear the traffic, but once you opened the balcony door I had to shout to hear my voice. Anyways, my point was maybe I'm just not sensitive to the noise and perhaps there is noise in building 4, but I didn't notice anything.

Thanks Gail and Xtinabell!

We do sleep with a fan at home...so that's probably why. Are there DVD players/CD players in the room? I could bring music. How big is a white noise machine? Never thought of traveling with one.

We live in the woods so the only thing you hear out here are owls. ;)

Sharper Image used to sell one the size of a small alarm clock- it was designed for business travel. Soft ear plugs are also good for the kiddos.

We stayed in either 3 or 4 and our room was very quiet and a lot bigger than I had imagined. :)

We stayed there this past weekend in a NDD1 Building 4 (Myself, DS14 & DD11). Just as an FYI, the beds are just a bit bigger than a twin. There was a rollaway in the closet my DD chose to use.

Other than the smallish beds we loved our stay there. I had a end room near the parking lot. The only noise I heard was from people leaving and that was while I was near the door.

Here's a pic.. Sorry for the mess, we were in the process of leaving.
The door there is the closet with the rollaway bed, iron board & iron. Next to that behind the curtain is the patio.

Overall we were very happy. :thumbsup2

here's one I googled... I know they're around; Target carries one but it's $60. This one looks like the one we have, which is 10 years old! Not too big, and $25.

Just chiming in that if you ever have any needs, or questions, that Lorealle is your gal. Email her, she'll get back to you right away. It's like chatting with a friend...unbelieveably, ridiculously helpful and friendly. You won't worry at all once you have her help. I can't wait to stay there in FOUR DAYS!! :cool1:

Cloud B Sleep Sheep on amazon. It's a soft stuffed sheep with 4 southing sounds. (I think)? It's gotten good reviews and it looks like it's made for on the go. It can even attach to strollers. I'm thinking of getting one myself and one for a baby shower gift. Hope that helps? :music:
