DS 10 loves Rick Riordan's Lightning Theif series, and just read about the 39 Clues. I bought it on Friday and he finished it Sunday. Can't wait for the next book to come out (in December). There have been lots of articles about it lately, they're hoping they'll be the next big thing for preteens.

It seems like a neat concept. There are going to be 10 books I think. Each with a different author. They come with cards and you play an online game where you can really win money. The cards have different clues on them, some of them you have to figure out codes or math puzzles, some are just historical notes. The books are full of histortical stuff. DS said the first one reminded him of National Treasure.

I have a friend who bought 6 of these--one for her son and 5 to give to his friends. My son LOVED it. He's a fan for anything with books/cards/computer games, and he loved the Lightening Thief series, so it was no surprise to me that he read it in about a day.

That sounds good. I will have to remember it for DS. He is reading Lightning Thief now and really likes it.
