So I've been inspired by my local Zumba classes. We have classes 7 days a week in my small community. I'm looking to loose inches (hips/ butt) and have fun! If I could loose 30 pounds in the process, that would be great.

Anyone else hooked on Zumba?:banana::banana:

I love Zumba! It is my favorite workout!! I try to make it to classes at least 2 days a week.

Don't get me wrong, I think it a good way to play and burn Kcal... but I hate it. I am only capable of movement in one plane of motion. put me on a spinner or on a track or treadmill and I am fine. Add a second axis and I am toast

I am looking into trying this. Is it hard for a newbie to follow? I mean it looks fun and I do go to the gym 4 days a week but just recently got back into exercising. My gym does offer the class, any input would be great thanks;) Mary

I think one of the great things about Zumba is that you see people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and color out there doing it. As my favorite instructor says, the hardest part is walking through the door to the class. I know there are steps I do wrong, but as long as I am moving, I am just fine!

I LOVE Zumba!!! I have been going for about 1 1/2 yrs, and try to go at least 2-3 times a week. Let me just say I hate to exercise, it is like a four letter word to me! I was so excited when our local gym started having these classes, because I don't feel like I'm working out. They are a blast. Although, like anything.....it's a matter of personal preference.

My advice... walk throught the Zumba door... it's the hardest part. :goodvibes

I feel like you need at least 3-5 classes for all of it to start making some sense. We have 2 main instructors throughout the week. One really kicks our butts... really a lot of thigh, butt, guts. Our other gal is really dancy. There is some cross over between the two gals.

I've watched a few other Zumba routines on You Tube. A couple are real extreme to me.. no way I could possibly move like that!!! :rotfl: I am thrilled with my small town Iowa Zumba!!

I still don't like the shoes I'm wearing to class. Bring a towel and water bottle. I stood towards the back the first couple of times. I started just trying to get my feet to do what instructors were doing. Now, I've added arms.

One thing to remember... just move... HOWEVER... we all look completely different as we twist and turn. We laugh at ourselves A LOT! There are all ages, shapes and sizes in my class. It actually pretty inspiring to see different levels of fitness really enjoying the hour we share together...

Good luck and PLEASE go try it!!!!

Hey... another Iowan here!

I've posted on all the zumba threads so far. I LOVE zumba! Other than running, I no longer do any other exercise. It tones my arms, core, legs, glutes and I burn major calories. I love to dance anyway, and latin has always been my favorite. If you are new, start at the back until you feel confident. You'll eventually get it and it becomes 2nd nature.

Good for you!!!!! I just did my 1st zumba toning yesterday. Glad I didn't try that right away. I am so out of shape. It'll get easier. Looking forward to my class tonight and Tues night. Wed's class is at 5:00 am... that is my break day.

I just measured myself (waist) with ribbon today. I wish I would have done that before my first class. Hopefully I will be cutting some ribbon off next week.

I'll be checking in... postg how it goes..ok?!?!? Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!!

I am pretty new to Zumba as well and have only tried the dvds. I do love it but get frustrated with myself for being uncoordinated. I used to do ballet when I was younger so I feel that I should be able to move like the people in the video. Thank goodness I work out at home so nobody sees me but my kids-they deserve a good laugh every once in awhile. I am tempted to try a class at our local gym. I will let you know when I get up enough courage to do this. The good thing about the dvds is you get encouragement and if you look like a dork, then so be it.
Good luck to you-Elizabeth

Please go to a class. The environment and energy is amazing!!!! There are so many ages, sizes, and ability. I screw up all the time and you know what??? a lot of other people do too!!!!

Find a class and go... if you can move your feet, even if it's 2 left feet... you can zumba!!!

I am a licensed Zumba fitness instructor and teach 2 classes a week. The key is to just keep moving. Nobody really cares if you are doing the moves "correctly" other than YOU! It is all about having fun and doing a fun workout that you enjoy.

Zumba Hugs! <3

I just got Zumba for the Wii three days ago. I am so uncoordinated and the thought of going in public to try Zumba scared me. I'm sure that I look crazy but I have had so much fun. I know it has only been three days but I look forward to doing it. Be sure to drink lots of water because you will sweat.
