Your experience with them, will likely vary by area. They do offer a decent hourly wage, with some flexibility in hours.

They go in and count merchandise, and enter the information into handheld computers. They are the premier provider of retail service throughout North America, and in the last 10 years have expanded tremendously overseas.

I worked for RGIS about 15 years ago. It is an inventory company that goes from store to store. I worked for them for only a short time before i went back to college. We inventoried local stores so we each drove our own car. I am not sure what stores they inventory anymore. It was an easy job and the time went by quickly.

Yes, I worked for them as an auditor. It was a mostly bad experience. If you really want to know what it's like to work for RGIS, check out this blog:

It's pretty funny, and shares a lot of the same experiences I had working for RGIS.

While I never worked for them, two co-workers of mine did. It was mostly overnight jobs, sometimes 45-60 minutes away of which they weren't paid for the travel time. They both quit after a few months.

I am not going to go back and forth in the public forum. But like most jobs a lot depends on the local management and what you make of it.

To each their own

Bf has worked with them when he has had to go on inventory observations for our audit clients (We are public accountants). His observation where Regis was counting was at an abercrombie & fitch store in a mall. It was suppose to start at 7 but didn't start until after 9pm. He got home at 4am and he wasn't even counting everything in the store like those poor counters had to do. Who knows when they finally got to leave.

I worked with one company (not sure if it was Regis or not) and it was such a pain. When an accounting auditor (one who actually audits the books of the client) goes to the site we have to ensure that what is there is there and if that means moving items on shelves/around/etc then we do it. Well I was counting groceries on the Kroger shelves and the counters were not allowed to move anything. They had to count by sight. We counted by moving because one brand of green beans is not priced the same as other cans and if you miss count you can over/understate inventory. Well this company had a rule that if our count was different than theirs they would then we'd have them recount that area and we'd count another area that counter counted. If we found another problem that counter would be sent home for the day. It was such a pain and quite frustrating for everyone involved.

I've worked retail for the past 5 years and RGIS has done our inventory at every store (usually twice per year).

What I know of them...YUCK!! It's usually late night work (our inventory starts at about 7 pm and can go to 4 am). I can't imagine they pay very well - in our area it's mostly temporary workers. Let's just say it's not a bunch of people I'd want to be alone in the store with...I'll leave it at that.

Of course as another poster has said, it could depend from region to region...

I worked a season for them about 16 years ago. The job itself wasn't bad at all. You would just go into stores and count the inventory. It was easy and mindless. It was usually after the stores closed or before they opened so you were pretty much working late evenings through early mornings. If the stores were small, you would do a couple during one shift.

The money wasn't bad at all. I don't remember what I made, but it was a great deal more than minimum wage at the time. I want to say around 9 or 10 an hour.

You worked with all kinds of people. I worked with a group that was pretty much just moms and college students.

The downside was the people you worked for. The people in the stores were usually really nasty and hateful to us and our supervisors were just people who had worked for them longer than we had. Many times you got a suprervisor who really knew what they were doing, but many times you got a clueless one who could really be hard to work for.

If you just want a seasonal job for a little extra money and don't mind strange hours, I would say to go for it. If you are looking for a long term job and don't like strange hours, this wouldn't be that job.

We have also used them for Retail counting for many years. It all depends on the individual employees. Sometimes things went smoothly, other times I sent some of their employees home for various reasons(bad language, goofing off, and even stealing) We are using them again in 2 weeks. :confused3

I worked for them and I also worked for another inventory company WIS. I had fun at both jobs, but they were not my life's goal. I did them while I was in college. Most of the employees are young and in college or people just trying to make ends meet. It's not a job that needs a degree for. You work mostly throughout the night while the stors are closed. Employees from the stores may look down on you, but who are they to judge someone that is working. It's a job, there are up's and down's like everyplace. The money was ok and got me through the summer and paid my books in college. Overall i had fun experiences and i am still in contact with some of the people, I even married one of them and after 16 years we are still together.

Gosh aren't you an accepting, non-judgemental type of person. Can I be you for a day? I know many people who work for RGIS. They are hard working moms and dads who do this as a second job or college students trying to pay for school. Most of the folks in our area make between 10 and 14 dollars an hour. Not bad for a part-time job with a lot of flexibility. I would rather be alone with this group than with a bunch of sarcastic, better than thou type of individuals.

Ive been in retail for 12 years now and both in management workings for some large retailers that I have worked for have used RGIS. Ive had some really great experiences with them and some not so good. The store I work for currently the supervisor and his supervisor come along to the count because we are a large store that in the first year we were open had some big issues with counts and they stay till the end of the count If the store is organized before the counters even arrive it will go good. If the store doesnt prepare and pre-count certain high volume areas its not as wonderful of an experience. Also the retailer can if they are noticing when they audit the count, that certain counters are making mistakes can have the counter removed. Ive had to do it a couple of times but all in all they have not been a problem. Its not a lot of mom's its mostly immigrants and college students in the counts Ive seen in the last 12 years but Im sure diffrent area's see diffrent things.
I had a friend who worked for them one summer and he didnt mind it at all. Good money and he had a flexiable schedule.

WOW! That was harsh...

Remember I said it could be different depending on where you are...

I've worked with them about a dozen times in the past 5 years and there are no moms & dads or college students on the teams that I've seen. There is no way they are making $10-14 per hour...probably more like $8. Except for the few supervisors they are all temporary workers being paid thru Manpower, etc..

I'm a very open minded person who works retail for living...definitely not a snob. I've had one pretty bad experience with RGIS to the point where I had to turn an employee into management for sexual harassment. It was very uncomfortable so I think I have the right to say I wouldn't want to be alone in the store with them.
