Kohl's is going to be building a new store nearby and I thought that might be a great place for a part-time job. Can anyone tell me exactly what benefits you receive. I've looked at the website but they are pretty general. I'd like to know what sort of employee discount you receive and if they are easy to work with on a part-time basis. I currently have a part-time job I enjoy but would like to work more hours. And since my current job is the first I've worked since having the kids does anyone know what the starting wage would be?

Thanks

hello, I worked at Kohls ...I worked overnite Ad-set.
humm, where to start...overnite was ok. I made 10 an hour due to the over nite shift. I would not work as a cashier, pay was like 7 bucks an hour...sorry, I needed at LEAST 10 an hr.
discount....anywhere between 10-20% off. not really a good discount.

Ikind of liked the job, being a worked with a bunch of guys at nite, but I found them to not be an understanding work place.......
but that would be up to you....
**** I think your wages are gonna depend on where you live

I don't work there. However, I should I spend so much time and money there! :earseek:

I worked there a long time ago - it was ok. It's retail. I was hired as a cashier and moved up to cash control pretty quickly. I don't remember my salery but it was 10 years ago so I suspect that they have gone up. I'm sure it was less than $7 an hour.

You get hired into different departments so you always work the same place. I know when I worked there you could leave when you were done. So as a cashier once we were closed out and did our deposits we could leave. We didnt' HAVE to stay to help other departments. I know at xmas they allowed people to help other departments.

I quit because I wanted a department transfer and they wouldn't all it. I was only getting 1 shift a week due to the cashier schedule and my college schedule not mixing well. I could have gotten more hours transferring to a clothing department.

I think we got 25 or 30% off.

I can't really say i loved or hated it. for better or worse it was retail

I thought for retail it was a pretty good place to work. We got 10% off of hardlines and 15% off of softlines (clothes, etc). That was on top of sales prices as well. One time I paid a dime for a shirt. I didn't make much, but I was only in high school. Just don't work in women's clothing!!!!!!!!! Women don't pick up after themselves. EVER. It was a nightmare. Mens wasn't bad.

and once each quarter they have a friends and family sale where you get a coupon that you can use as much as you want and in addition to your normal discount you get an additional 15% off, you can really clean up at these! Ours is this weekend!

::yes:: ITA! I've spent so much money there! But, you've got to love those clearance prices they have, right?!

Can I ask a Kohls related question? I got some pants on sale the other day for $27.99. They are advertised in the sale paper for tomorrows sale at $17.99. Will they give me the different price? Or can I return them and then buy them back immediately? I got two pairs so thats a savings of $20.

Hey, I worked at Kohl's in Ad-set too. You made a lot more than I did. I only got $7.50. Didn't you love it when your CRT went down for 4 hours. They still expected you to stay around and get the ads up.

I worked there before Christmas, so I was considered Seasonal. When my 90 days were up, they asked me to stay on. I would of got Health Ins., but I needed to work 35 hours to qualify. I maybe worked 35 hrs, once or twice. 3rd Shift is very hard to work. You start at 10 and you are done at 6. They pay you straight thru.

My supervisor was a jerk, she had a full time job during the day, slept from 4:30-9:00, then came to work at Kohl's. No one can get a long with her. Everyone leaves the ad-set to go work in different dept. This supervisor also put in to work on Sat. & Sundays for check-out during the day. Plus she would work 7 nights a week.

Anyway, Kohl's is a great place to work. You just have to get out of the store when you are done workingand try not to spend your paycheck there. If you know a really big sale is coming up, they allow you to store your items up to 10 days before the sale begins, and I think Clearance, you are allowed 3 days before the Clearance Sale.

My nephew's girlfriend and another one of my nephew's both worked at the Kohl's nearby. They got a 40% discount :earseek: and it could be used on clearance sales. (unlike a very unpopular retail chain store, which only offers a 10% discount, and you cannot use it on clearnce items)

I liked the friends and family coupons that periodically came out. 40% off coupons!

maybe they went according to experiance?? I actully got 10.50 and hour...but I have not heard of a kohl's offereing 40%!! I found only on the double days...thatyou got a decent disount.....I am used to getting 50-60% in past places I have worked....so I was not impressed. I stopped working there in January. to start school.

Thanks for all the replies!! The discounts sound good to me having 2 growing boys. :teeth:
