Any tips on a trip to Disney? How do you get around? Is the climate bad for you? Are there particular times of the year that the weather there is better for your condition? I hear humidity makes it worse?

Hi--I've been living w. RA for about 8 yrs.now (2 of those undiagnosed). Right now I'm pretty much in remission, though I do flare up once in a while. My problem is mostly with my fingers and shoulders. I find warm weather is better for me than cold and so going to wdw in the winter is heavenly. I do get hit with fatigue sometimes if I overdo, so maybe plan to take a break in the afternoon and go back to your hotel and take a nap--it's not just for kids anymore :)

It's not a sin to walk slower and take your time, cause even if you feel well at that time --if you overdo it may come back to bite you.

Swimming is great and you should take time to get into the pool and hot tubs.

Have a great time! :yay:

I also have RA and had it for most of my life. diagnosed as a kid and then went in remission for years and back again after my last preganancy, but now it is in remission again(i'm 49) i take 200mg of plaquenil a day and even though dr says i'm in remission i still get aches and pains once in awhile. i try to watch what i eat,i find that if i eat greasy foods or really rich foods my fingers will swell and my knee will stiffen up. the heat does help and definetly use the hot tub. like the other poster said take some breaks and sit and take in the view, thats one of my favorite things to do at WDW.

it is actually a family member that has it, and I am hoping to convince her to go to Disney, she has never been. SHe said she is afraid of how the humidity will affect her.
