I had two fillings put in three weeks ago. The dentist had a really tough time getting the fillings to stay. Every time she started to remove the metel thing around the teeth the new fillings fell out. After about 3 tries she got them to stay. Well, 2 weeks later they have both fallen out. I'm on my way back to the dentist in a few minutes to get them put back in. My grandmother tells me that this is how she lost all her teeth. :scared1: After she gave birth to my father her fillings started falling out and new ones wouldn't stay. I'm only 31, I really don't want dentures.

I was just trying to figure out what will happen if they can't get the fillings to stick? I'm terrified of the dentist (I hate having people that close to my face) and I hate to think of this becomeing a prolonged process. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

It could be that the cavity has no retention....meaning that it is too big for a filling. Or.....it could be that the Dentist is not using the proper bond for the amalgam or resin.

Sounds like they are large fillings (if the dentist had to use the metal form around the tooth). You don't necessarily have to lose the tooth. If the root is healthy you can have a crown put on the tooth.
