My brother is getting two weeks of leave in June, and is a coaster junkie.

So he and I are going to Cedar Point June 24-26, and staying at Hotel Breakers, on one of their packages. We get the room for two nights, two one-day passes to Cedar Point, two Starlight passes (after 5pm) passes to Cedar Point, eight breakfast coupons, $30 dollars in Munch Money (I'm assuming this is food credit in the parks) and "Buy One Get One Free" admission to Soak City Water Park.

We're flying into Cleveland Friday night late, and staying at the Sheraton at the airport there, and planning on driving up to Sandusky early Sat morning. I hope they will let us check in and get our tickets early that morning, and just hold our luggage til the room is ready.

Has anyone ever booked one of these packages?

Any tips, advice, etc would be appreciated.

Cedar Point is a great place!! They have a pretty good website, and many fan sites as well. We haven't been in years, but I do know Breakers is beautiful!

I have stayed there. It is fun!:thumbsup2

One thing you won't expect is that it is right on Lake Erie and you can just chill on the Lake if you want.

You will LOVE Millennium Force...what a coaster.:worship:

I go every year and can probably answer any questions you might have.

Use the early entry perk for Hotel Breakers.... you will need it. If you don't utlitlize the early entry perk, you will be in line for the coasters just like everyone else waiting FOREVER. Run for the bulls... you will need to do it. Study your map and be at park entrance early.

Hotel Breakers is nice, but not posh deluxe nice, more like antique not quite rustic nice. Think turn of the century nice, but not ultra modern in design or amenities.

You will be right on the Lake. Ifyou haven't ever seen the Great Lakes you will notice that the Lake is just as big as a ocean. (you wont see the end of it and it does smallish waves). You can walk on the beach, but it isn't much.

Mellinium Force is good, but Dragster is better. Don't be afraid of Dragster, its great fun. Wicked Twister scared the heck out of me. You feel like you are going to fall into Lake Erie!

The park is great fun. Some of the coasters are quite old, like Blue Streak and Magnum XL. Mean Streak is interesting as well. The inside tobaggon style coaster Disaster Transport is quite cheesy but fun. (I bet they redid it since the last time I went )

Food options are fairly limited near the park. There are things to eat in the park, but nicer establishments are few and far between even off site. You will see stuff like Friday, Applebee's and such like that.

Expect to drive about an hour or even an hour and a half from Cleveland airport to Sandusky. The route is boring, and in some places only two lanes.

Good luck and have fun

haha no way, i def. think that millenium force is the best ride in the park. I forget just how good it is everytime i ride it lol. but Dragster is super good too, just super short.

A friend and I stayed on a package there last year and will do the same again this summer :cool1:

Here are a couple of my tips...

Definately use the early entry option! Go to the big coasters first - Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster. You are going to be there over a weekend so the lines will be very long! Lines for these will be several hours long very quickly!!!!

Ride the front seat on both Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster! It is worth the extra time in line! I would try to do that first thing in the morning so you won't have to wait as long!!!

Utilize their "fast track" (or whatever it is called) system. Esentially by each of the most popular coasters they have a booth where you can get a handstamp to return to the coaster at a certain time and by-pass the long lines. Pick which ones you want carefully since you only get two. Check those booths first thing in the morning to see what time they will start handing out the stamps. Make sure to get to the booth at least 20 minutes before the start time!

Be warned that Top Thrill Dragster defiantely does not make it all the way to the top sometimes (especially if it is windy!)

I wouldn't ride the Mantis (the standing coaster) again. It is a fun ride but your head gets thrown around so much that you often walk off with a TERRIBLE headache!!!

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Have a great time! I  Cedar Point because of the coasters! Feel free to PM me with any questions you have!

I would also add that Magnum is an older coaster (about 15 years) but it is still one of my favorites!!! You definately have to ride the Mean Streak as well! (Blue Streak is ok but a bit rough for an old coaster.) Wicked Twister is fun!!!

We were there for a couple of days about 3 years ago. It was the first summer for Dragster. We found it was great to be able to get in early, leave in the afternoon to cool off at Soak City, then go back in the evening again. Have a great time!

We go to Cedar Point every year!! The package deal sounds like a good thing!!

I have opposite advice of everyone else ~ be sure to take advantage of the Starlight passes. We did this last summer when there for the weekend, and it is by far the best way to enjoy the park. I think we were there very close to the dates you will be ~ and we never waited more than 20 minutes for a coaster! The early entry is nice too ~ but I find the Starlight more beneficial!!

Yes, you should be able to get all checked in and they will hold your luggage for you. We have always enjoyed Hotel Breaker's....but two years ago tried a cabin for the first time, and will always stay in the cabin's from now on!! It is nice because you can walk back to the cabin and grab some lunch and chill for a bit ~ and then go back and enjoy more of the park! Much cheaper to bring your food than buying it in the park all day!

Have a fantastic time! If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks, everyone! I found a Cedar Point message board..and have been perusing it all evening. They have some "touring tips" and strategies to maximize your time, so I've copied and downloaded them. Sadly, Cedar Point discontinued the Freeway Pass hand stamp last year (or so I read).

I will NOT be riding the coaster where my feet are dangling, but am game for the rest. I figured that if we utilize early entry on Saturday, and follow the plan, we can knock most of the headliners out, then use Starlight the next night (after a fun day at Soak City) to catch up on anything we missed, or re-ride some that we loved.

Hopefully TTD and MF will be running...I've seen several threads where they have been down several times this season.

Yes, MF and TTD can be down quite a bit. If the winds kick up, (and it does happen being on the lake) TTD is down.

Freeway is discontinued? Thats a shame. That was an easy way to reride coasters.

I'm not a huge fan of dangling feet coasters either, but I will do them.

When going on TTD, if you have sunglasses, or RX glasses, you need ot have a glasses strap or they will not let you ride. They will check you! You really need to secure your hats, phones, etc. They will go flying and at that speed you will get hurt.

I know it sounds crazy but even in the summer it may be cold. It wouldn't be a bad idea to pack a hoodie/cardigan. One time we went to Cedar Point over Mem. Day weekend and it barely was over 50 degrees. It started at like 48 degrees. The lake does do a decent breeze.

Living in Cleveland it was never sweltering hot. It was always a breezy coolish summer weather.

Yeah, the temp is blowing my mind!

The high there today was 65 degrees. I am used to Six Flags over Georgia in the summer, or WDW, and DB lives in El Paso. We're going to be in heaven with mid-seventies temps.

Of course, I'm concerned that it will be too chilly to do Soak City...us southerners might get cold! :)

Once you get to the top, the view of Lake Erie is absolutely breath taking. That's what I personally enjoyed most about Millennium Force. It's a fairly tame, smooth coaster. I loved that. It wasn't one of those that whip you around and give you an instant migraine.

Don't ride Millennium Force in the rain!!! Man, that kills!!!

Oh and cotton candy is 25 cents this year!!!!!

We're staying in Warren, OH for a week this summer and hoped to make it to Cedar Point. Does anyone know how far it would be?

Any other fun things to do around Warren or Girard? We're staying at the Holiday Inn Megaplex in Girard.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I was planning on starting a Cedar Point thread at some point. Thanks.
