Anyone with a Twirler out there?

My DD wants to learn to twirl (has been asking for a year). I am hoping that someone who has a twirler out there might know someone in Miami who would be willing to teach her. I ahve contacted the national twirlers organization and there really isn't anyone they know who teaches here!

If you know anyone, please let me know!

Have you looked in the Yellow Pages under "baton"? Our listing has "baton twirling instruction" category.

I twirled for 10 years. I learned at a local dance studio that offered twirling in addition to tap, jazz, etc. If she's serious about it have her take a dance class as well. It'll help develop her talent.
Are there any high school marching bands that have twirlers in their ranks? You can either call them and speak with them to see where they learned or ask if they would be interested in giving lessons.
Good luck! It's a fun sport and I learn so much from it and made some really great friend thru it.

I have no clue how to help you. I was a twirler when I was a girl. We live in a college town, and my parents found my instructor because she had been the college twirler. Or does the local high school have a twirler? You could ask her where she learned.

Wish we lived closer. I'm terribly rusty, but I could probably remember a little. I haven't twirled in years and years. Good luck. It's quite fun. Bet she'd love it.

Where are you in Miami? My dd is in her second year with the Superstars. They are mainly in Broward, but I do see a few classes in their schedule in Miami. Go to http://www.floridasuperstars.com/ and look under class schedule. This is a great place and lots of fun. Best of all they go to Disney every February for Twirlmania......LOL. I would hurry though. We have already ordered costumes for the year. I think they may be having late orders next week so you would still get it in time for Disney. I know the Disney registration is due by mid Dec. Let me know if you have any questions. Lots of fun and no pressure for the 2-3 years until the girls get on competition teams. They can do as little or as much as they like. For example, we will be doing the Hollywood parade, but not the University of Miami half time or the NASCAR as my husband doesn't feel they are good venues for my dd (he is a bit protective).

YEAH!If their website is accurate, they have recently opened a class blocks from me!!!!!!!! I just tried calling and got a machine! I am soooo happy! She first saw twirlers at WDW last February and has been begging to start. I almost had private lessons arranged with Melissa Marcus, a world class twirler and student at UM. This didn't seem to happen and I was getting ready to give up!!! I called the local high schools and they haven't had twirlers in years!

Glad it worked out for you. I always get a machine when I call but normally they call the next day. What class is good for her? You can start next week. How old is your dd? Mine is 8. Hope your dd has fun and see ya at Disney Twirlmania in Feb.

Oh yeah I just looked. Go to the website and look at the Nov newsletter. it discusses the costumes. You must order at BCC campus on Dec 6 and will receive it in Feb in time for Twirlmania.
